Parallax is an unnecessary optical illusion and comes with at least -30 fps, unless you have a rtx4060+ graphic card. When you go closer, you will see that the 3D illusions become flatter.
Edit: I commented without seeing that the picture belonged to Skyking. I tried to give advice to the master without realizing it
We could all write a letter to Bethesda asking why their engine from 2011 didn't include displacement or PBR material capabilities. Or we can give the option to those that want it, the illusion of displacement with parallax whilst still offering standard old-school specular based diffuse and normal maps.
Dang, I don't mind. You didn't offend me and it was a good comment. I agree that parallax can sometimes look like crap and sometimes offer a lot. I prefer it on architectural meshes and mountains/dirt cliffs. I don't like it on landscapes. I've been working the past couple of days to reduce the bad parallax artifacts like stretching and distortions. Especially the point you brought up about it looking flat from certain angles. It's not perfect, but getting close.
