About this image

NaNoWriMo Day 16 excerpt.

Some context first. My MC has successfully infiltrated the Thalmor Embassy and stolen the documents Delphine needed. She was shocked by what she found in the dungeon.  She's a rich girl from Solitude who apparently never visited Castle Dour's dungeons. She's talking here about the Thalmor. She's been having memories/dreams after absorbing the first two dragons. There's been a lot of discussion about whether it is changing her prior to this.
----
“How DARE they?” Rage clouded my vision.  I felt my stomach roiling. I bolted behind a tree and threw up the contents of my stomach – nothing but bile.

No one said anything on the rest of the journey to Riverwood. I drank some ale and spit it out to clear the terrible taste from my mouth. My brain had no such luck. I kept visualizing the blood under the rack and the torture instruments and…

‘And what the FUCK do they use garlic for?” I stared at my friends. "Well?"

“Love?” Kaidan looked at me, surprised.

“My Thane, you are not well,” said Lydia. She looked shocked at my continued use of colorful language.

“Damn right, I’m not well. I hate them. I hate them with all my soul.” I felt myself shaking.

“Souls, you mean,” said Lucien dryly.

I blinked.

"Perhaps this would be a good time for you to sit down and rest. Let us get to the inn. It is not far," said Inigo.

"Souls?" I asked Lucien.

"Ah, well, about that..."

Lore questions

1. Does the absorption of dragon souls change the Dragonborn's biology so that she becomes immortal?
2. Where are the dragon souls after they die? Is there a Dragon Oblivion or Sovngarde? Or something similar to Hircine's Huntlands?
3. Why do the Thalmor believe they are the Aedra and better than any other race?
4. Jurgen Windcaller fought dragons. Did he absorb their souls? I've been looking for more lore books on this.
5. Tiber Septim was Dragonborn, but there were no dragons during his era -- at least none known.
6. Both Windcaller and Talos lived the normal lifespan of men.

^ if there is somewhere else I might ask these questions, please let me know.

Thanks.

    Got some answers on Discord.

I still have questions. Can anyone point me to a lore thread on Reddit (or here preferably when the forums are back)?

    Thanks! ^^

    1. No, Dragonborn are mortal just as everyone else. There have been a lot of Dragonborn in the past, some even that absorb dragon souls and they're all dead.
I need to find the in game books that support this.

2.The dragon souls that you consume are destroyed, as for where they go when they die without being destroyed it's not known. Likely they remain in the corpse in a kind of hibernation and that's why they're revived so easily when Alduin comes back.
But a few times the Dragonborn is told that they kill dragons permanently. No hope for being returned to life.

    3. The Thalmor believe that all of the mer or elves are direct descendants from the Aedra because the Aedra created the world...The word Aedra roughly translates to "our ancestors". Conversely Daedra translates to "not our ancestors.
I don't read of the wood elves or other mer slaughtering entire villages.

And another thing. The Thalmor Justicar, Ondolemar,  mingling at the party (Diplomatic Immunity) came out and practically admitted that he loves the Civil War because it weakens the empire for the next war which will be worse.

"There is peace now, and that peace will continue for as long as it suits our needs. But make no mistake, this is not a peace forged out of necessity between rival nations of equal strength. It is more like the calm between storms. And the next storm, I think, will be far deadlier than the last."

    4. Yes, Jurgen Windcaller fought, killed dragons and absorbed their souls.
I couldn't find the books for this, but I'll keep looking.

    5. Tiber Septim, Talos, was a dragonborn, but no, there weren't any dragons around that time. They were all 'dead'. They knew he was dragonborn though because of the amulet of kings, which if you remember Oblivion, could only be worn by one of dragon blood because of the blessing of Akatosh.
Yet the Atlas of Dragons has no mention of the first dragon killed at the Watchtower (Mirmulnir) So he was around -- somewhere.

A Reddit thread author suggested sacrificed himself so that the Dragonborn could come into their power. But one of the things Mirmulnir says during the battle is "My Lord will devour your souls in Sovngarde."  Not exactly "Go get em!." Interesting theory though.

    6. Yes and no, Windcaller did, and Talos kind of did before ascending to godhood.
Probably no chance the Last Dragonborn will be a new (10th) Divine.

Also is it possible that the dragon souls have a possibility to corrupt the Dragonborn just like the mortal-created shout dragonrend allegedly does (as Aeringir said?)

Also, apologies for the screen shot title. I was in character raging.
