Fantastic submission! I love all of these recreations, but I have to say that Minsc is my favorite.

      Many thanks!

I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to make them all in time, because I really wanted in on this challenge. Luckily I was able to add these five at least, but the original thought was to create all of the BG companions. It will be a task for another day - a side quest if you will - because I had so much fun re-visiting these dear old friends of characters from my very first gaming experience...

Thanks again for the initiative! Minsc sends his regard too and letting you know that Boo likes the forest so much that he ran away for this particular photo session...

Hello Rick! Long time no see :D
I was thinking about doing some bg characters as well for this event but I didn't do anything about it past thinking about it so you beat me to it . :)
I was mostly thinking about Viconya but you seem to have put so much more effort into it that if I ever do something about the event It's gotta be some other dark elf.  They all look great  and to my eyes Minsc and Jaheira are especially well done but that may be because I always liked those characters more in the game.
I also wanted to ask you what program do you use to stitch the images. So far I have used paint.net and gimp but I haven't really managed to compose an image like this and I am wandering if it's a skill issue or a program. Thank you very much.

Hey K! A very long time indeed as I'm not frequently visiting Nexus as much as I used to do...

That would've been very interesting for sure, to see some BG characters made by your skills. There can never be too many of them as they are RPG icons today considering BG released in 1998 (it came with 6 CD-disks). Some of them will even reappear in the upcoming Baldur's Gate 3...without spoiling too much I hope.

The challenge ended yesterday as I understand it, but that said I'm really very curious to see your version of Viconia. She's my favorite of them all, simply because she showed me the dark path and made me introduced to the Drow. Her appearance alone in the game made me start to create my own Dark Elf socities in my writing and the Drow race heavily inspired them in my homebrew of a worldbuild. Viconia is the only Drow you can have as a companion in BG unless you get the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition with the DLC Siege of Dragonspear. There you can tag along with another Drow, the sorcerer Baeloth Barrityl. It's a male though.

Glad I made your favorites somewhat "up-to-the-point". Minsc turned out great indeed, but the warpaint still haunts me a bit, because I know I've seen a paint somehere that's practically the same he wears on the character portrait from the original game. I couldn't find it though...and also, there's no Boo...

I'm very daft when it comes to digital phot editing and programs like that. I grew up with analogue cameras, slides, pens and pencils!
For this reason I'm very grateful for the LUT additions, since they can bring to me what I can't achieve otherwise. The same goes with managing and composing images in editor programs. I'm using the free version of PhotoScape X for my stitched collage shots. It's pretty handy and also comes with a few filters (which I use for my Mass Effect shots since I can't capture the game with any LUT's) and lots of editing tools (which I can't really use since I'm all noob in photo editing).

Thank you kindly for the visit and may I also add - since I had a look on your latest uploads - you've done some really great stuff lately! Just wanted to mention that since I haven't commented at all (not been around), so keep up the good work!

Hello, dear Heike! How grand to see you here on the SE side of Skyrim...

It's a very old game by now as it was released in 1998, so as you can imagine the graphics of the game is very out-dated. The game is also a isometric RPG (my favorite game genre), so you see the characters from a top-down view and very pixelated. It comes with character portraits though that are beautifully done and it's those I've used as an inspiration for my creations. I've tried to stay quite close to the original looks (as far as my skills would let me), but I've also added a few personal touches here and there.

I'm very glad you like the characters, because even if you don't know who they are, they've meant a lot to me and I wanted to bring them some justice to on how they - perhaps - would've looked in a modern game.

      Thank you ever so much!

I knew they were characters from BG before I scrolled down - you did an amazing job with this recreation of the characters.

Thank you so very much, Magda!

I'm pretty sure though it was Minsc that gave it all away. He's rather unique in his appearance and anyone who has ever played BG would recognise him on the spot I think...even if he's lacking the dear and beloved Boo in the shots...

I did have a lot of fun making these characters as they were more or less re-works of old ones before I started using HPH. I also got very triggered to do them all, but time didn't last for me. I might get back to the rest another day, just for the fun of making them...and there's also the characters added from BG2...

Hope you are well and safe!

Well old mate, the only game I ever played before Skyrim was Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, so I was effectively denied the pleasure of taking part in this challenge (unless I can think of a way of getting a Boeing 747-400 into the game! )

However, it must be said that despite my total ignorance of Baldur's Gate, I think your characters look absolutely superb and your drow cleric especially is an absolutely cracking young woman!

    Great pics, my dear friend!

Hi there, Les! Yes, I can understand it would be a bit troublesome to make a Skyrim set out of a 23 year old flight simulator...but on the other hand, we've seen plenty of amazing stuff on the image share during the years, so I wouldn't be surprised if there actually was an airplane mod too!

I myself started off my PC gaming with one of the most classic RPG games. It was only natural to me, since I did play a lot of tabletop RPG's up to that point and this game - Baldur's Gate - takes part in the worldspace of Dungeons and Dragons. The step came natural so to speak, and I'm glad it did, because isometric RPG's on PC are still my favorites (much because they relate to the old days of pen and paper with dices and character sheets).

I'm glad you like the characters here. A few of them are quite iconic, but I know it means little unless you know about them from the game. Five of these are good at heart and one is evil...and yes, you've picked the evil one! The cleric Viconia was my first interaction with the Drow (Dark Elves in DnD) and I immediately fell for her. She's the whole reason to why I've started working on my own version of Dark elves for my homebrew of a worldbuild for storytelling. I will certainly play this version of her in my Skyrim (and the rest as well), just for the sake of nostalgia!

      Many thanks, my friend!
