...haven't had the inspiration to mod Skyrim for a long time, finally got the inspiration, now the Creation Kit has a strobelight-y flickering bug. I have a mild form of epilepsy* (yes, I know, it's stupid for me to play games that could trigger it, but I'm stubborn and very careful) and have already had 2 focal onset seizures from attempting to use the CK.

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, nuking the directory, setting everything to vanilla, removing EVERYTHING then reinstalling, etc, nothing...only solution that I know of is to rollback my graphics drivers (which would render all my games unplayable) or to just wait for a fix. I'd love to get back into modding Skyrim but can't for now. Might put up screenshots once in awhile of gameplay, though. Again, the issue is currently the Creation Kit, not the game itself.

*Again, I realize it's dumb of me to play games that could trigger it, but I hate not being able to enjoy things that everyone else can. I take my medicine and am very careful. Can't play games like Dead Space or Destiny due to the excessive flashing in most of the gameplay, but some games I'm lucky with (examples: Fallout, The Outer Worlds, Skyrim). Games like Cyberpunk and Mass Effect have flashing issues that can be easily anticipated (like certain grenades and activating mass relays) so I just close and cover my eyes. A continuous, non-stop strobelight/flashing effect in the Creation Kit, though, is not something that I can safely avoid. All the medicine in the world won't help that.

    Hope it starts working again soon, and you get some of that widely coveted inspiration.

    I've just seen this. I do hope that things get fixed for you asap! I've very much enjoyed the little houses you've created as they fit in with how I play - they've been very much loved here. There are many, many, many best wishes winging your way. Take the greatest of care of yourself.  Lovely image BTW!

      i'm definitely going to be making more mods once the CK+graphics card issue isn't an issue anymore

    ARG! how frustrating! One of my friends deals with epilepsy and loves watching me play Skyrim and FO4 but has to get up and leave the room every now and then due to visual effects. And to have this happen in a mod author's main tool! I hope they fix this soon.

      from what i understand it's a problem with the graphics drivers, so hopefully the next NVIDIA update will resolve things. i'm sorry to hear that your friend deals with epilepsy too, that's rough - best wishes to you both and happy gaming <3

    It's the render window that is flickering, right? If so, it's because of recent NVIDIA drivers; roll back to an older version... II had the pleasure of experiencing that bug myself. <_<

      yes that's correct, i tried rolling back but it messes up all my other games. for now i'll just take the loss

      other games i play rely on the latest version of NVIDIA drivers, so the frame rate will be choppy at best and unplayable at worst

      EDIT: btw i love your modwork!! just checked your page and the conversions, mods, etc are great ^__^

      That's a shame. T__T Wish there was an easy way to swap drivers with a click of a button.

      I'm gonna miss your unique taste in housing, but at least I'll always have the igloo. ;)

    YOu've made some wonderful creations and several of them will forever be parts of my load orders.

    <- suffers asburgers ( cant spell it) a form of autism. MY mom tried to make me promise not to play those games that have that warning on them. Never made the promise as I knew and she wasn't listening that pretty much all games these days have that warning on them.

      just did a quick search and i have no idea why i never thought to link my epilepsy with asperger's. i'm somewhere on the autism spectrum but docs aren't sure where, and i gotta see a neurologist again soon, so i think i'll mention the tics and light sensitivity. spent so long having this as "normal" for me that i forget that it's not normal for others and don't even think to mention it at doc visits. thank you for the indirect reminder. best wishes to you and happy gaming :)
