For instance. I am using a 2k-4k Environment overhaul. 8k skin, 4k face. Most NPC's have 4K skin and the physics mods are 95% cbpc as opposed to SMP heavy. The clothes are rarely above 2k...these ones in particular are a performance level of 2k-4k balance. Basically...if you aren't going to be looking at it too hard too often...let it be a little shitty. Considering the baseline of what this game was...getting it to this point is astounding. And it's thanks to all these great modders.
Another tip in case anyone new to modding comes across this? Sometimes when you go too high for your rig it causes oddities and errors that wouldn't happen in lower resolutions. Try reducing it if you find things are grinding to a halt or behaving oddly with graphics.
