About this image

Experimenting with weathers again.  Trying to get ambient light to look more clear and natural, get rid of all the harsh contrast.  No ENB or ReShade yet, those will be just to do final color correction and bloom.

I gave up on SSE finally. Just can't stand how it looks and since SC is running fine and has all the mods and ENB perks available no reason to switch. But nice to see others with more skill and patience are trying to improve the look.

That's awesome to know ! I feel weather and lighting are the main areas that need some love in SE, to get much of the great lighting that is usually made in Skyrim 2011 with ENBs, since it is more convenient.

But with a few adjustments/additions to JawZ's XEdit Scripts we can automate changes to most of that across groups of weathers at a time, from sun and ambient light to fog and cloud brightness. Without the need for an ENB for easy tonemapping and day/night settings I ended up moving to ReShade and throwing the extra performance on shadow range

Same here. I haven't used an ENB for a while now. I don't see the point tbh. And like you I use the performance gain to pump up shadows and other goodies like 4k mountain textures etc. SSE ENB is effectively dead to me, though if Boris got his mojo back and gave us something other than a husk I'd be all over it again, like the proverbial wet dress.

Me and another user on here, Gurleygirl, have been having a bit of an epic chat about this just recently. We both dislike vanilla's overtly stylised high contrast low clarity look but we're coming at the problem from totally different angles. She uses Dolomite Weathers and dislikes mods that make SSE seem washed out (CoT suffers from this imo). I'm a big fan of omega2008's work, initially because I could run his Surreal Lighting with your TS but he's been going from strength to strength with each release imo.

This shot is quite muted, but interestingly I still like it. You're onto something.
