And pure mage is one of the playstyles that benefits the most from mods over vanilla IMO. Lots of cool spells and skill trees to play with.

I always play as archer at first walkthrough cuz it's my fav class.
In my opinion, if you want to fully and with pleasure play a storyline with a wizard - do not change your heroine. A mage is weaker than a warrior. Therefore, the higher your level, the more interesting it is to be a magician, since at the initial stage of the game the heroine can not really protect herself.
True, but there's always mage mods to make it more fun :D
