Skyrim Special Edition

Q: How do I change a hairstyle back to vanilla (or potentially a hairstyle from another vanilla hair replacer)?

A: You will need SSEedit, which you should have anyway.

1. Open the VHR esp file up in SSEedit
2. Click the + symbol in the left pane window so that the records appear, and in the Headparts section, delete any and all records with the name of the hair you want removed. For example, if you want to remove General Tullius' new hair (MaleHairImperial01), just look for all hair records titled 'imperial' and remove the records from the esp so they can be reverted to vanilla. If you want to remove MaleHairNord02, etc, rinse and repeat the same steps.

To help you find the vanilla hair you want removed, check out the image gallery that has pictures for each vanilla hairstyle so you can pick and choose which ones you want to keep or remove.

Done. It's that easy!

But how would we replace it with another hair? Would we just have the other hair mod and delete the records for ones we're using this for?

If it replaces vanilla hairs like Vanilla Hair Remake or High Poly Vanilla Hair, the default vanilla hair meshes will be replaced with the hairs, so you removing specific hair records from the VHR esp will thus make them compatible with replacers like these

I get that this replaces vanilla hairs, but I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you said here. Could you please put it another way?
