What is SkyFurry NG (SFNG)?

A community project with the aim of turning Skyrim into a world of anthropomorphic animals.  SkyFurry NG can modify every NPC in the game, half of the NPCs in the game, or none.  SkyFurry NG can be used as additional stand alone anthropomorphic races or to make the whole world furry, the choice is yours.
It is a fork of the mod "Furry Age of Skyrim Expanded/Yiffy Age" by BadDog, without whom this mod would not exist, so give that man some love.

SkyFurry started as Better Bretons and was later combined with Hyena Overhaul/Far Dunes 1 by ValeHyena. Our team has since expanded and this project is still very much a work in progress, but we're excited to see where it goes! We want to create a project that serves the needs of the community, so if there's a feature you think we should add or if you have any constructive feedback, please feel freeto let us know!

SkyFurry NG is a re-imagining of SkyFurry.  Once a proof of concept of the SKSE plugin that eventually became Race Distribution Framework was working, we realized that RDF allows us to make SkyFurry NG without the need for building compatibility patches for every mod that adds NPCs, greatly reducing the effort needed to keep up as mods are updated and new mods are created.

Race Distribution Framework gives us the flexibility to allow for customization of the race swaps or the use of alternate races should you find yourself wanting to replace one or more of the SkyFurry NG race swaps.

SkyFurry NG does NOT require the compatibility patches that SkyFurry used and is NOT compatible with those patches!


What do you mean, "Community Project"?  Does that mean I can get involved?

How is SkyFurry NG different from Yiffy Age (YA) / Furry Age (FA)? There is a lot of overlap.

  • SAM Body: YA is based on Schlongs of Skyrim or vanilla male body types, while our mod is based on Shape Atlas for Men (SAM) by VectorPlexus.  This means that the limbs, schlongs, and textures for YA will not fit the SAM body
    type, and that armors and clothing meant for SOS will not be completely compatible with our mod.  Our textures won't fit SOS, so they won't work with YA.  If you've never heard of SAM, it's similar to the difference between UNP vs CBBE.
  • Custom Textures: This project evolved from a core group of artists and our goal is to completelyoverhaul YA's textures and meshes to fit our own aesthetic vision and ensure it plays well with a heavily modded, ENB friendly setup.
  • Different head meshes: We do not use the Vaalsark or Kygarra races, instead preferring tostick to variations on KrittaKitty's excellent Lykaios mesh for the canine races.  The tiger head mesh has been replaced with the Kapo'Tun.
  • Unique Races: Forebears are just the beginning.  More species options are coming soon.  We want you to be able to express yourselves!
  • Assets from other modders: We have adapted assets from other modders, such as Saerileth's Khajiit hair, Poblivion's lion textures, and nevenbridge81's Natural Eyes.  Please see the bottom of the page for the whole list.  We have used these within the permissions provided by the original modders - if we've made an error, please contact us and we'll make it right.
  • Furry Physics: If you select this option in the installer, you will get a set of full HDT collision-enabled tails which bounce, swish, and wag. Dance your tail off and wiggle your ears!
  • Addons and Extras: Bodyslide files, SKSE plugins, hdt loincloth and undies, flowing fur, and much more created specifically for SkyFurry NG.
  • Race Distribution Framework: SkyFurry NG is built with the races acting as stand alone races instead of race replacers, making it much easier to be compatible with other mods and races.


Your video intro is cool and all, but is there a way to skip to the main screen?

Alter the Skyrim configuration files to skip the intro (bethini's a good choice), or install a mod specifically that removes the intro like this one (Be sure to place it below SkyFurry NG in your mod list.) Simply delete/hide "Video\BGS_Logo.bik" to revert to the standard vanilla file.


Can I use your assets in my own mod that does not require SkyFurry?

Please ASK, we would like to know where these are being used. If we say yes, you must link us to whatever you end up creating, and you must credit this project. Do not use our work to promote hatred, racism, or bigotry.

Meshes and textures we have created for this project: we will probably agree to these requests, we could not do what we do without resources from the modding community, and we're happy to see transformative use and give back. We might insist that some assets remain "SkyFurry Exclusive" when they are brand new and open them up for public use later.  Standalone followers
are a great example of usage we're perfectly fine with.

Addons such as the loincloths: we would prefer that these not be turned into a standalone underwear mod or anything like that, but if you want to dress up a follower, send us a note.

Please note: any of the assets listed on the bottom of the main page continue to belong to their original creators and you
must abide by whatever permissions they set forth. As an example, if you want to use the Natural Eyes on that standalone NPC follower? Credit nevenbridge81. If it's unclear, please ask! We don't want to create hurt feelings with accidental theft.

Can I make patches or modifications to your files as long as they require the original mod?

Go nuts! Link it back here so others can enjoy it too.


BODIES & SAM
What bodies does SkyFurry NG support?

BHUNP, CBBE 3BA and SAM Light bodies. You can use SOS armor but they will not scale with the SAM morphs and may have gaps at wrists and ankles as a result. The original UNP and CBBE are likely backwards compatible but aren't being actively tested for.  HIMBO is not compatible at this time, but we are working on making a version of The New Gentleman / Furry Addons and Patches for SkyFurry NG.


Can you recommend some armor for SAM?

There's a variety to choose from on the VectorPlexus website, we particularly like kreiste's work. Here's a large collection of links to armors that have SAM conversions.


Why can't you host SkyFurry NG Male Body and Schlongs on the Nexus with the rest of it?

SkyFurry NG Male Body and Schlongs contains assets that fall under the VectorPlexus EULA and must therefore be hosted on their website.


Do I need to install SAM Light, Schlongs of SAM Light, or HDT BBB Bounce?

No. As mentioned on the SkyFurry Body and Schlongs page, the relevant assets from those mods are contained within SkyFurry to streamline installation for users.


SKYRIM & SKSE
What version of Skyrim are these mods for?

Active development is all being done for Skyrim Special Edition 1.5.97 so this is the version we would recommend. Anniversary Edition (1.6+) and VR are supported as well.  Please help us make your experience easier by reporting issues you find with
these versions - most of our testers are also on SE.

You're welcome to backport our mods and patches to LE if you'd like, as long as you credit us! We don't have the interest or resources to devote to maintaining a LE port ourselves currently.

Windows Game Pass version of Skyrim will not run SKSE and cannot be used with our mods.  Sorry!


Wait, the only version of USSEP I can find is for AE?!

The SE version has been hidden, but you can still download it HERE. SkyFurry no longer requires USSEP but we still recommend it.  All conflicting USSEP changes have been merged into SkyFurry_armor.esp.


TROUBLESHOOTING

My game crashes as soon as I take off my clothes, or my body looks like it's melting into the ground?

XP32 skeleton is probably not installed, or is being overwritten by another mod. Please double check you have all of the requirements.


Why does "Advanced Furry Physics" need to install its own skeletons?

These skeletons contain the extra ear bones necessary for the physics-enabled heads with wiggle ears to work correctly. If you don't use this feature, or you have a conflict with another mod that references these skeletons, want to use your own skeletons, or have issues with CTD on decapitation, feel free to hide or delete them. Please let us know of any incompatibilities you find so we can warn other users about them.


I am getting the error FNIS "ERROR(76): Could not find a part of the path

'C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\temporary_logs\DebugData.txt'."


Pandora Behavior Engine is recommended as an alternative to FNIS.  If you are using FNIS, make sure you have done the below:

Your virus scanner (usually Windows Defender) thinks that FNIS' behavior is
suspicious, because it generates a lot of files at once. Here is the
known fix:
1. Left click "Start".
2. Click "Settings".
3. Click "Update and Security".
4. Click "Windows Security".
5. Click "Virus and Threat Protection".
6. Scroll to "Virus and Threat Protection Settings".
7. Underneath this, press "Manage Settings".
8. Finally, under "Real Time Protection", turn the switch "Off".

Make sure you turn real-time scanning back on when you are done using FNIS.


I used this old patch for Yiffy Age, Better Bretons, Hyena Overhaul, etc, and now my game crashes?

SkyFurry NG needs patches made specifically for it.  It's not compatible with patches from YA/FA, or from the original SkyFurry.

During the cart ride at the beginning of the game, NPCs hair stretches down to the ground

FlowingFur isn't working properly before character creation with vanilla start, because HDT-SMP hasn't initialized yet.

Disable FurDistributor.esp and start a new game, that should remove it from being given to the NPCs.  Once you've completed the introduction and started inside Helgen Keep, you can re-enable it.
AFP tails may also be glitched before character creation as well.

Schlongs / penis not appearing during character creation

As the Schlongs of Skyrim mod hasn't initialized yet, schlongs will be missing before you complete character creation. To use the schlong sliders effectively, you'll need to go back into Race Menu after your character has been created and the scripts have initialized.

You can use the showracemenu command from the console or if you have the SAM morphs for RaceMenu installed, you can use the SAM power (using the Z key) to get into it again from there.
