Skyrim Special Edition

Esl problem...

The reason is very simple: there is a risk, only with ESL Files, of having identical IDs for the followers.
To transform an ESP into an ESL, you must compress the ESP data with the CreationKit, to reduce its weight...

When you have only two or three followers, in general, it's okay, but when you have a lot, you multiply the risk of having two identical IDs, and that... obviously, the game doesn't like it at all !! CTD direct!!!

So, for all those who appreciate my work, and who wish to have several, see all my followers, I strongly advise switching to the AIO Pack which is updated every week, with separate actress files for those who want to choose , and all in a single ESP.

For any questions regarding the installation of the Pack, do not hesitate to leave me a message.., I strive to respond quickly!

Greetings, thanks for your work in creating these lovely ladies. I have limited knowledge about the details of Skyrim modding, but I agree with the comments of Cederien and PSeabra. The first 3 characters of the form ID are specific to the load order and the type of plugin. The last 3 or last 5 characters would be specific to a mod.  I have seen multiple followers with the same 3 character suffix (810, 812, d65, etc.) but the form IDs are still unique because each plugin has a unique prefix. So there is no issue in flagging a simple follower ESP plugin as an ESL.

For clarity, I think it's best to say 'ESL-flagged ESP' (abbreviated ESPFE or ESP-FE) rather than 'ESL' because ESL is its own category (a 'light master' plugin). It's not a huge problem, but some mods ARE .esl and many are .esp which are flagged 'light' and load as 'light masters' in ESL space.

      Hi Tyg3r,

First of all, I also thank you for appreciating my work... I spend a lot of time there but I love it!!

All these explanations on the rules for recording Id for Esl convinced me to resume esl file production.

I'm currently testing the esp and esl files that I made for Evelyn Claire, who's coming Saturday...

First time I hear about that, where does that come from? Makes no sense IMHO, at least not as I understand it. Yes, you only got a limited range of ID's and thus they can duplicate, but the game uses not only the ID from inside the esp to identify a record, but also adds the ID of the ESP to identify a record. So for example for in my game Alettas record ID will not be just 819, it is FE048819. "FE" marking it as an esp loaded into the extended "light" address room and "048" denoting its place in the LO. No other record will ever have the same ID while the game is running (baring a major bug). More so that's just the base ID, every NPC gets a unique ID assigned by the game engine once it spawns for the first time.
I kinda doubt that's a problem, if it were, it would not just apply to followers but to all NPC's added by ESL (flagged) mods and I just checked my LO I have several cases of mod added NPC's that have the same ID inside their respective esp's (might well be dozens if I dig deep enough).
Granted they are not followers, but from the game engine's perspective that's mostly just a question of an NPC belonging to the PotentialFollowFaction or not, so not relevant for the problem at hand. Now it could be that it is only not a problem as long as those NPC's with identical internal IDs are not in the same cell (at least while spawning for the first time), but as stated I've never heard (ok read) of such a problem, so I'm curious where that info is from?

Completely true. I don't know where he got that idea from...

This idea comes to me from the fact that while recording the esl of my last follower, I noticed that it had the same identifier as the previous one...
And it's true that I didn't find out much about the issue, I preferred the rather due caution of having 200 messages telling me that my ESL was crashing their games !

Now, I perfectly understand Cederien's explanation concerning the registration of esl in the LO.

As I don't use ESL myself (all my followers are on the same Esp), I'm not familiar with their loading rules but what you explained reassures me!

I will inquire further and certainly resume production of esl for the next...
