Icy Mesh Remaster 2 has been in the making for a few months now. Not constantly but over time. And as it's getting very close to release, I'm wanting to announce the release of it and of course give a heads up on what this mod is all about.

The idea of Icy Mesh Remaster 2 is to push the boundaries and uplift how much immersion we can truly have as players.

IMR 2 adds and expands upon various areas of the original IMR
for example

Adding more meshes to the game which allows to design certain areas much better. With IMR 2 there are 3 zones, Ocean-Coasts-Inland. The idea is to add 3 different types of ice. One is more transparent while the other is solid and the last is a mix of both.

- It includes all the tweaks and additions from IMR.

Ice retextures are gonna need to be specifically designed around this mod. By default none of the mods will be compatible. So the first retexture will be Unreal Ice. The next one can be voted on the Icy Mesh Remaster 2 mod page once it's released.

Greatly expanded LODs. Every set zone has their meshes, and their LODs. All icefloes now have LODs, Icicles have LODs too !

Any conflicts are addressed by a patch compendium provided by me. Patching is very easy as I only need to forward the records over another mod and there is already a number of patches created for the few conflicting mods.

Icy Mesh Remaster 2 features seamless meshes final generation. Many of the earlier issues that were present with the meshes are now ironed out and works incredibly well (Even better than the current meshes in Unreal Ice) So all ice retextures will be created around those meshes.

- This mod will be a modding resource for mod authors and anyone to use. The plugin itself is not allowed to repost but the meshes are allowed as they are suppose to be customized with any ice retextures. Anyone is allowed to create their own beautiful ice retextures and I'll be sure to promote it on the Icy Mesh Remaster 2 mod page.

Thank you for all the support on my mods ! :)
Coming soon !

I am looking forward to seeing the new version!

If I use Skyland AIO (v.4.32) for most of my textures, will the existing Skyland Icy Mesh Patch (v.1.5) work with Icy Mesh Remaster 2 or will there need to be a new version of Skyland Icy Mesh Patch?

There will be no compatible mods out of the box. So support for this mod will have to be built. This includes skylands ice textures. However I'm not sure if the mod author will have time or interest to create such a compatibility patch between his textures and IMR 2.

As for other mods, over time more mods will be supported.

Well, that is too bad. I will have to wait and see how to progress. Thanks for getting back to me! A kudo for that!

Will this cover ice caves meshes as well or will that stay separate in icy caves remastered?

Nop, Ice caves and glaciers are gonna be separated. It would start to become confusing and too spread out to attend to both. Besides. Ice caves has a retexture of their own which is on my radar to expand upon.

I'm just now making a load order that included IMR and Unreal Ice. Looking forward to seeing the new iteration. I'm assuming if I start a game with my current combo, I can drop in IMR2 and the updated Unreal Ice mid-game when they're released?

Depends, if you choose icyfixeslite, then you should be able to just drop it mid-game. Though you will need to regenerate DynDoLOD for all the changes to take effect.

Honestly to make this whole project complete, you might think about creating snow textures that compliment all the work you've done on the ice. Just a thought!

it's not a bad idea, though I'm not sure if I'd be able to execute just as well as ice. Though it could be something to mess around and see what I could come up with afterwards. :)

Sounds interesting. Of course I will vote for Icy glaciers textures as second one :P even if I also like the advanced vanilla ones... (and too many others...)

I have already guessed that you'd vote for that ice retexture hahaha
