Overview:
Necromancy is the school of magic that deals with the manipulation of the bodies and souls of the dead. The most common application of this practice is the reanimation of corpses as undead minions, but some mages specialize in the subjugation of ghosts, wraiths and spirits. Necromancy is widely regarded as immoral, and most people show strong animosity or outright hostility towards those that practice it. This pushes Necromancers to congregate in secluded hideouts, where they can pursue their research undisturbed.
Necromancer Classes:
Necromancers
Necromancers' motivations for pursuing the Dark Arts vary from individual to individual. Some are on a quest for power and glory, some seek immortality, others want to unlock the secrets of life and death. Despite their common interests, most Necromancers are distrustful even of each other, and prefer working alone or within small, guarded cults. Necromancers tend to be skilled mages but poor fighters, relying on their reanimated minions for protection.

Defilers
Some individuals lose interest in the Dark Arts once they become skilled enough to raise and control minions, and focus on honing their combat skills instead. Known as Defilers, these individuals rely primarily on their own strength and the backing of their skeleton warriors to take out their opponents. Most Necromancers look down on Defilers, believing they contribute nothing to the advancement of their craft, but they still tolerate their presence for the protection they provide, and it's not unheard of for a Defiler to rise to leadership of a Necromancer cult.
