It is always better to NOT remove/update an ESL or ESPFE mod (which this is) from your game save.
A NEW Game is always preferred
These instructions below... sometimes work. Sometimes they don't.
How To Create a Clean Game Save to Install a Newer Version on a Current Play Through
Why Does Upgrading to a new Version Require A Clean Game Save?
The process of making the esl or ESPFE requires Compacting the Active File Form Ids.
This process invalidates the updated mod from any previous game saves.
You can still use your current game, you just need to remove the previous save, clean it and then you can load the updated version.
Steps (Which work SOME of the time. Sometimes it doesn't):
- Save your game.
- Use your mod organizer to remove the previous version. I then run LOOT to redo the load order.
- Use Fallrim Tools Script cleaner and clean your game save of interest and Save it with a new name. I will just increment the number. For ex. Save301_AB4A5BB7_1_44697368616E69_dw01MyLeakyBasement01_021626_20220925051941_51_1.ess <<< Original unclean Save302_AB4A5BB7_1_44697368616E69_dw01MyLeakyBasement01_021626_20220925051941_51_1.ess <<< This is now your Clean Game Save.
- Load your cleaned game. Make sure it your game loads. Move to a different cell. Save it.
- Use your mod organizer to install your new mods. Use LOOT to redo the load order.
That is what I do every time I have to compact the active file.
It is worth learning to use Fallrim Tools Script cleaner especially if your game experiences frequent crashes. As I have been testing my various mods I was surprised at how much more stable my game had become.
