Skyrim Special Edition

I might miss some of the changes here.

Fixes

  • Dawnguard DLC compatibility: Durnehviir won't be resurrected if you can't learn shouts, the Imperial Deserter at Redwater Den no longer says that saw you in Helgen
  • Patched for the Unofficial Patch
  • Removed unnecessary ITMs and qf_mq106 script with no actual edits
  • Fixed that controls get enabled a lot later than the into titles on SE
  • Fixed MCM getting stuck on Skyrim Unbound after the start in VR
  • Fixed the blur effect from the cart intro playing when you're south of Helgen for the first time
  • Resized the Roggvir execution scene trigger, so that it triggers properly when you start in Solitude
  • Resized the Maul and Mjoll triggers so that they trigger properly when you start in Riften
  • Fixed some werewolf variables not set when making you a werewolf
  • Fixed Volsung not appearing from his sarcophagus for characters that can't learn shouts
  • Fixed random dragons not appearing until you reach level 10 regardless of the MCM settings
  • Fixed some MCM bugs
  • Fixed some floating start location markers so you don't fall when being teleported to the starting locations
  • Non-dragonborn players don't have to come very close to the word wall in Bleak Falls Barrow in order to trigger the boss
  • Balgruuf is not made a player's friend from the start
  • Disabled Elenwen dialogue 'I could swear I've seen you somewhere before...'
  • Added a missing edit to subtitles of D1E19. The "Dragonborn" word was cut from the voice file but not from the subtitles.
  • Fixed that if you switch the side during the Jagged Crown quest, Ulfric/Tullius says that you were at Helgen when you bring the crown to him.
  • Fixed that Ralof and Hadvar are both sitting in Riverwood from the start of the game.
  • You can use any spell or shout to escape when you're trapped in Saarthal, not only those that can trigger hit event on the wall, so that you can't get stuck there due to Flames removed

Quests and dialogues

  • Restored Bleak Falls Barrow quest as a side quest
  • Changed the way you become a thane of Whiterun: a standard thaneship quest (help the people of the hold and buy a house) is avialable after you complete Bleak Falls Barrow. Options for using The Blessings of Nature, either quest or both quests instead are available. The Breezehome price edit is removed.
  • Dragon Rising gets completed when you absorb your first soul, instead of being completed right from the start, which caused all mods to think that you're dragonborn from the start even if you aren't.
  • The Whispering Door quest has a requirement on your relationship rank with Balgruuf, instead of Dragon Rising completion in vanilla and nothing in the original Skyrim Unbound
  • Remade the Stormcloak/Imperials join dialogues. You no longer say that you want to become a commander (which was originally made to support start in military camps)
  • Added delays before the Greybeards call you when you absorb your first dragon soul and between the Greybeards call and the quest start
  • The first absorbed soul gets spent on Fus
  • The Whiterun Watchtower is not broken (the dialogues about dragons attacking it were already cut anyway)
  • "Shout - learn about word wall" WI quest (a "Letter from a friend" about a word wall) disabled for non-dragonborn characters with shouts enabled, instead of editing the letter text not to say "Dragonborn"
  • Remade the Golden Claw quest edits to avoid conflicts
  • Added conditions to dragons-, shouts- and dragonborn-related loading screens and "Farmer refugees after dragon attack" WE quest
  • Various dialogue edits
  • Beggars don't beg you if you wear rags
  • Added an option to remove mentions of you as an outsider in your starting settlement/outlander if you start on Solstheim

Shouts
  • Auto-Unlock Shouts option has additional modes: except the first word and only the first word.

The Start Procedure

  • The character creation now happens in a custom starting room instead of the Helgen corridor. You can stay there if you want, with the gear added and the ability to edit the character, swap gear and change the MCM settings
  • Added Swap Gear option after the character creation, which was previously only avialable in the quick start mode
  • The intro titles are half as short by default (but can be changed to full ones)
  • The quick start mode, which previously could only be enabled via a global variable, can now be toggled in the MCM
  • The load of notifications at the game start is hidden
  • No journal entries after the start
  • The Skyrim Unbound MCM is now on top of the MCMs list (can be disabled)
  • Autosaving during the game start (can be disabled)
  • An option to automatically open the MCM

Presets

  • You can now save and load presets, and replace the default preset
  • The old predefined "presets" are removed

Character options
  • There's no Faction option anymore. Forsworn faction is removed for now due to a lot of issues with it. The Imperial and Stormcloak factions are replaced by Faction Headquarters starting locations where you start before the Jagged Crown quest. The Bandit faction is now local and integrated into new Bandit Camp starting locations (since all the bandits aren't in a single bandit organization). There are also Vampire Lair and Warlock Lair locations, and orcish stronghold addon now, all with integrated local factions.
  • You can set a bounty on your head in the hold where you start
  • You can set the bounty before being thrown into the jail, and if you don't it will be set randomly, so that you have some time to serve in jail
  • Standing stone descriptions in the MCM. On SE it requires powerofthree's Papyrus Extender, on LE it requires running an xEdit script
  • An option to add perk points at the start

Weapons
  • One very long list that still missed a lot of options is replaced with a whole weapon combo constructor that covers all possible options and combinations of starting weapons
  • Weapons aren't always iron, the weapon set can be choosen
  • Staffs are now split by school instead of Offensive/Defensive/Utility
  • An ability to select specific staffs

Armor
  • Removed: Stormcloak Officer Armor, Forsworn Armor
  • Added: Monk Robes, Dark Robes, Miner Clothes, Vampire Armor, Vampire Clothes, Iron Banded Armor, Imperial Studded Armor, Hide Cuirass + Clothes, Dunmeri Clothes, Chitin Armor, Chitin Heavy Armor, Bonemold Armor, Light Elven Armor, Orcish Armor
  • An option to limit randomization to the entry-level armors

Spells
  • When choosing one magic school twice, get two different novice spells instead of a novice spell and an apprentice one
  • Raize Zombie spell is available for selection;
  • An ability to select a specific spell and a random other spell using the Schools mode
  • Toggle the chance of getting spells of the same school when the spells are random

Inventory
  • Rebalanced inventory and more variety. Choose your character's Wealth level, items in each one are different and randomized
  • You can now toggle the chance of getting each of the possible items
  • An ability to enable axe and pickaxe, as well as lantern if you have one of the wearable lantern mods

Un-hardcoded items

  • The items are un-hardcoded using leveled lists, allowing modders to customize the items given
  • The random counts of various items can be changed in SkyrimUnboundBalance.json

Starting Locations
  • Wilderness locations have been reworked from scratch: true wilderness instead of hunter camps and more locations
  • Added Solstheim locations
  • Added location types: Border, Docks, Temple, Player Home, Homeless Shelter, Bandit Camp, Warlock Lair, Vampire Lair
  • Orc strongholds are remade as an addon. Not only you aren't just spawned near strongholds anymore, but the necessary preparations and edits are made to ensure maximum immersion.
  • Military camps are replaced with Faction Headquarters locations, where you spawn right before the Jagged Crown quest (the main issues with the camps were the lack of integration with the Civil War quest start and the need of altering the join dialogues and quests)
  • The Hold option is replaced with a hold filter that allows you to limit the randomization to any number of holds
  • You can toggle chances of getting each location type when the location is random.
  • No beggar and "arrived by ship" starting locations among City/Town locations
  • The starting date is randomized. You can choose a season or a month.

Extension Framework
  • A framework that allows to create addons that adds more options (locations, items, armors, weapons and spells)
  • Provided some addons in the installer and the core files

Other

  • Removed Non-SkyUI support and some useless options
  • Dragon Stalking Fix is no longer included
  • Compatibility for the Experience mod
  • Provided some patches in the installer
