Skyrim Special Edition

Quick refresher of the basic steps

  • Install like normal using your favorite mod manager. If you're not using a mod manager, honestly, it's probably better not to install. Sorry

I'll be using MO2 for this (because I'm not sure how to set up xEdit in Vortex), but all steps should have equivalents in Vortex. This is EXTREMELY straightforward. Download -> Install. It's like any mod.

  • Copy the contents of the "Edit Scripts" folder into the Edit Scripts folder in your xEdit installation

So right click, find in explorer and get to the folder. Inside that folder, there's an Edit Scripts folder. There will be two files in it. Go into where you installed xEdit, and there should be another Edit Scripts folder there. Paste these two files into here.

  • Open your load order with DBM_HallofInsanity.esp loaded below anything which has a weapon/armor record.

NOTE: This is the one item which could be slightly different. Generally, most people will only be using the 32-bit version of xEdit. If you have a significantly large load order, this script CAN take a substantial amount of RAM, and can benefit from the 64 bit version of xEdit. You can find this in the Optional folder in your xEdit install. If you want to use it, copy it to the main folder, and make a secondary launch option that uses that .exe instead.

Do NOT flag the plugin as ESL. It's going to end up too large to fit within that formID space (even if it is right now).

  • Run the hallofinsanity.pas script

Right click anywhere, choose "Apply Script", and find hallofinsanity.pas (it should be alphabetical). Choose OK.

.....and that's literally it.

Optional configuration you may want to consider: on line 1480 there's a variable preferFemale which is set to true. What this means is that for armors which have both male and female meshes, the mannequin will be female. I chose that to be the default because *stares at Nexus*. If you would prefer male to be the default, just edit this value to be false and save. In either case, if the armor has ONLY male OR female meshes, the mannequin will be of the only type that can be displayed.

Other than that, it's just adding plugins you want to ignore to ignoredPlugins.txt. The script reads the one in the Edit Scripts folder.
