Starting Off

There are many ways to start the quest. Next to every relic in the world is a journal or note that will begin the quest. However, the "best" place to start is near the Tower Stone in Winterhold. All the notes you find nearby relics try to nudge you in this direction.

Find the "Iceberg Explorer" near the copy of the Knights of the Nine. There you will find a few hostile Thalmor and the skeletal remains of a Knight of the Nine still in his armor. Loot the Thalmor as they have a useful document that will aid you in the quest. You should also find the Mace and Shield of the Crusader at this location.

There is a journal that belongs to the Knight nearby. Read it carefully as it is the key to finding the other relics.

Thalmor Orders

On the Thalmor you should find "Thalmor Orders". This document should inform you that Ondolemar is leading the hunt for the other relics. You should learn that the Thalmor have secured the Curiass of the Crusader and it is being held at Northwatch Keep. Ondolemar is stationed in Markarth, you may be able to find more clues there.
