Skyrim Special Edition

Not all mods listed here are available for all platforms. MCM (Mod Configuration Menu) requires SkyUI. Before using a compatibility patch, make sure it supports the latest version of both mods to avoid issues.

Known compatibility list

Releases:

  • Skyrim VR: Compatible. Requires the VR Perk Extender (SSE). Note that dual and charging power attacks, and therefore their associated perks, cannot be performed in VR.

Creations:
  • Survival Mode: Compatible.

Mods:
  • Curse of the Dragonborn: Incompatible. Both mods modify the same scripts.
  • Distinct Interiors: Distinct Interiors contains bad assets with excessively large and detailed collision meshes. This causes the game to slow down when facing those objects as it tries to calculate whether you are in range to activate them. Growl 2.1.0 introduces a workaround where all of the new "activate" features in Growl (such as the ability to loot corpses in beast form) are moved into a separate hidden perk that only exists in beast form. Note that this will alleviate the extra FPS loss from having more activate features than vanilla, but will not fix the FPS loss resulting from said poorly made assets in the first place. It is strongly recommended to remove Distinct Interiors.
  • Diverse Werewolf Collection: Compatible.
  • Faster Transformations: Incompatible. Both mods modify the same scripts.
  • Fatality: Compatible. Fatality modifies werewolves and werebears, causing a conflict. Load Growl below Fatality so Growl takes precedence over Fatality.
  • Imperious - Races of Skyrim: Compatible.
  • La Femme Lycana Female Werewolf Official Port: Compatible.
  • Mark of Arkay: Compatible. Disable resurrection in werebeast form because the feature breaks werebeast mods.
  • Moonlight Tales: Incompatible. Both mods modify the same content. Use one or the other.
  • Morrowloot Ultimate: Compatible.
  • Mortal Enemies: Compatible. Mortal Enemies modifies werewolves and werebears, causing a conflict. Either load Growl below Mortal Enemies so Growl takes precedence over the largely unnecessary changes in Mortal Enemies, or use the third party compatibility patch (LE/SSE).
  • Morningstar - Minimalistic Races of Skyrim: Compatible.
  • Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim: Compatible.
  • RaceCompatibility: Workaround required. RaceCompatibility modifies werewolf scripts and distributes them as loose files, which will take precedence over any regular mod you have installed, resulting in an unavoidable conflict regardless of load order. See below for a Workaround.
  • Real Feeding: Incompatible. Growl already modifies feeding.
  • SAS (SkyUI AIO Survival): Incompatible. According to a user report, SkyUI AIO Survival prevents you from equipping the Beast Form power until the vanilla 1 day cooldown is up, regardless of what its actual cooldown is.
  • Sleep to Level Up: Compatibility patch available on the Sleep to Level Up mod page (SSE).
  • True Hybrid - Tainted Blood pf the Dragonborn: Incompatible. True Hybrid changes werewolf scripts.
  • Vokrii - Minimalistic Perks of Skyrim: Compatible.

Compatibility for Half-Beast Visuals

This optional addon adds custom races with custom textures and is therefore incompatible with any mod that modifies the race records, their textures, and usually their body shape. It is not part of the core mod and can therefore be omitted if you're using incompatible mods.

  • Imperious - Races of Skyrim: Incompatible.
  • Morningstar - Minimalistic Races of Skyrim: Compatible.

RaceCompatibility compatibility workaround

RaceCompatibility modifies werewolf scripts and distributes them as loose files, which will take precedence over any regular mod you have installed, resulting in an unavoidable conflict regardless of load order.

To avoid this:
  • If you have no mods that REQUIRE RaceCompatibility: There is no need to install it. Growl already handles custom races correctly.
  • If you have not yet installed RaceCompatibility and want to install it using the included installer: Choose Moonlight Tales compatibility. According to the author of RaceCompatibility, this will result in the werewolf scripts not being installed.
  • If you have not yet installed RaceCompatibility and want to install it manually: Do not install the PlayerWerewolfChangeScript that comes with RaceCompatibility.
  • If you have already installed RaceCompatibility: Remove the loose PlayerWerewolfChangeScript it comes with. If using a mod manager, it will be in its own directory. If installing manually, it will be in your Scripts folder.
