Skyrim Special Edition

Not all mods listed here are available for both Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition. MCM (Mod Configuration Menu) requires SkyUI.

Known compatibility list

  • Animal Tweaks: Must be loaded before Smilodon because it seems to contain game setting changes that are far outside its domain, such as difficulty settings. Loading it below Smilodon results in the loss of several important game settings for no benefit.
  • ASIS: Compatible. Add SFL_ to the [PerkExclusionsStartsWith] list in the ASIS Automatic Perks INI and the [SpellExclusionsStartsWith] list in the ASIS Automatic Spells INI.
  • Attack Commitment: Compatible.
  • Campfire: Older versions of Campfire come with an outdated fix for the "Brawl Bug", while Smilodon comes with the more effective Modern Brawl Bug Fix. Either update Campfire or load Smilodon below Campfire.
  • Combat Behavior Improved: Compatible.
  • Combat Fatigue: Compatible.
  • Combat Evolved: Smilodon and Combat Evolved both modify combat styles and game settings, so there is significant overlap between their core functionality. If you prefer the combat styles and game settings of Combat Evolved, load it below Smilodon, otherwise load it above Smilodon. Stagger: Combat Evolved increases stagger length, which may result in unintended levels of stagger in Smilodon. Blocking: Combat Evolved includes a large buff to blocking that allows players to easily reach the block cap regardless of shield type or perks. If this is not a feature you want, load Smilodon below Combat Evolved. Difficulty settings: Whichever mod is loaded below the other will take precedence. Other changes: The NPC spell changes and sneak difficulty changes in Combat Evolved will take effect regardless of load order.
  • Deadly Combat: Compatible. The only overlap is a few game settings that are changed by both mods. However, these game settings include a large buff to blocking in Deadly Combat that allows players to easily reach the block cap regardless of shield type or perks. If this is not a feature you want, load Smilodon below Deadly Combat so it takes priority. Both mods add timed block mechanics, so you may want to disable the timed block feature in either mod to reduce redundancy.
  • Duel - Combat Realism: There is little added value in using both because their feature set overlaps for the most part. Also, Duel has a history of lying about its features and was on the Dangerous Mods Masterlist for a while due to save bloat, so it is nowhere on my list of priorities.
  • Enhanced Blood Textures: That mod comes with an outdated fix for the "Brawl Bug", while Smilodon comes with the more effective Modern Brawl Bug Fix. Load Smilodon below Enhanced Blood Textures.
  • Grimy Combat Patcher: The patcher will generate a patch file to replace the combat styles of all NPCs in your load order and therefore override Smilodon's combat style changes. If this is what you want, run the patcher as described. If you prefer Smilodon's combat style changes, remove Smilodon, run the patcher without modifying combat styles and add Smilodon afterwards.
  • Immersive NPCs in the Dark: That mod comes with an outdated fix for the "Brawl Bug", while Smilodon comes with the more effective Modern Brawl Bug Fix. Load Smilodon below Immersive NPCs in the Dark.
  • Immersive Weapons: Third party compatibility patch available (SSE).
  • Mortal Enemies: Compatible.
  • Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim: Compatible. Both mods come with a similar timed block feature, but taking the Ordinator perk Timed Block automatically disables the less effective timed block feature in Smilodon.
  • Perkus Maximus (PerMa): Compatible. Patchus Maximus: Add Smilodon to the PaMa block list to prevent it from distributing unwanted spells and perks.
  • Revenge of the Enemies: Compatible. Most enemies modified by Revenge of the Enemies have their own custom combat style and may not benefit as much from some AI improvements. Since Revenge of the Enemies is already hard enough, this is not an issue.
  • Skyrim Immersive Creatures: Compatible. A small number of enemies added by Skyrim Immersive Creatures have their own custom combat style and may not benefit as much from some AI improvements.
  • Skyrim Redone (SkyRe): Compatible. Load it below SkyRe.
  • SkyTweak: Compatible. Note that SkyTweak allows you to override Smilodon's difficulty and game settings changes at will.
  • Ultimate Combat: Compatible. Ultimate Combat makes a small number of combat styles and game settings changes and should be loaded above Smilodon so it does not override the more detailed changes in Smilodon. Both mods add timed block mechanics, so you may want to disable the timed block feature in either mod to reduce redundancy.
  • Vigor - Combat and Injuries: Load Vigor after Smilodon, and make sure you have at least version 5.1 of Vigor.
  • Weapon Parry Standalone: That mod comes with an outdated fix for the "Brawl Bug", while Smilodon comes with the more effective Modern Brawl Bug Fix. Load Smilodon below Weapon Parry Standalone.
  • Wildcat - Combat of Skyrim: There is significant overlap between both mods. Choose one or the other. Note that if Wildcat is uninstalled without disabling its stagger functionality first, the player will continue to get stunned and interrupted by any source of stagger.

Compatibility with other mods

  • Smilodon is compatible with mods that modify actors (NPCs).
  • Smilodon is compatible with mods that add new actors and will apply its changes to those actors as well, with the exception of its combat style modifications if the new actors have their own custom combat styles.
  • Smilodon makes changes to combat styles (enemy aggressiveness, power attack chance, etc), movement types (movement speeds) and game settings (block chance, dual cast multipliers, regeneration multiplier in battle, etc) and will conflict with other mods that modify the same features. This is not a compatibility problem, but you do need to make a decision and resolve the conflict by loading the mod whose changes you prefer below the other mod in your load order to give it precedence.
