Hungers are fierce lesser daedras, with a gaunt demonic appearance. They're consumed by constant and painfull hunger, and it's the agony of constant starving what makes them ruthless and unpredictable predators.
Originally created by Boethiah, the Prince of revolt and revolution, and the hunger for insurrection, the Hungers embody this hunger of spirit in their own physical painfull hunger. Their bodies are bony, and unable to keep themselves well fed, due to their extremely fast metabolism. They need to hunt and prey constantly, or the pain caused by starvation reaches maddening levels. Their bodies are aegis of suffering, the thorns that pierce their whole bodies sprout in a doleful and bloody form from their already weak forms, like the whips and handcuffs that hurt those who are subject to authority, and like them, the Hungers have a constant revolt. Their bodies are full of scars caused by their own claws, in the moments of greatest madness. But what mainly draws attention to them are the huge mouths and long tongues, used to suck the entrails of their victims, usually killed by their sharp claws.

Not very intelligent, Hungers are nevertheless adept users of invisibility, which, although not perfect, is effective for hunting prey in the dark and misty places they usually inhabit. In addition, their strikes suck the stamina from their prey, and are capable of causing mild paralysis. In Skyrim, they are usually summoned by the Hagravens, and some inhabit ancient nordic tombs in search of prey recently killed by the draugrs. They can also, though rarely, be found wandering lost in nature, usually in swamps, and some Boethiah cultists also summon them. They appear in several variants, according to their power, but generally similar in appearance, with the exception of the Crazed Hungers, who tried to quench their hunger in the knowledge of Apocrypha, and went mad, having started to mutate under the influence of that kingdom, now possessing a greenish color, and yellow eyes.

Their inverted variant is known as Spitter, creatures that constantly need to spit out the fluids that over-satiate them, causing intermittent retching. Molag Bal, Boethiah's eternal rival, was the one who originally gave rise to this variant. Corrupting its initial purpose, he quenched it with a bag of fluids that constantly keeps them over-fed. This change is symbolic, as Molag, the Prince of domination, wanted to prove the point that insurrection only leads to suffering, and that under his command and control lesser daedras can find stability and their own particular notion of peace, and of course, power. To personify this, he also coated them with a thorny chitin cuirass and made them bigger and more powerful. This food fluid, when in contact with the air, explodes in a toxic gas, which affects the magical abilities and endurance of its victims, giving rise to the name of the creature, which became known as Gas Spitter. Subsequently Dagon and Peryite took some Spitters for themselves, and modified them to transform the beasts into, respectively, Blaze Spitters and Venom Spitters, which produced fluids that in contact with air become explosions of fire and poison.

More difficult to see in Nirn than the Hungers, and known to be difficult to control, often breaking the control of their summoners, Blaze Spitters are more easily found in Solstheim ruins, while falmers seem to have a special fascination for Gas Spitters. The use of Venom Spitters seems to be restricted to some powerful Afflicteds.

All types of Hunger (except Apocrypha) are available as summons,
