No Creation Kit Today and new NMM version

  • Comment
As you're probably aware version 1.2 of Skyrim is due out at some point today. Some of you might have been expecting or hoping that the Creation Kit, the SDK software that will enable the more complex mods to be created, would also be released today along with this patch. Sadly that's not the case, as community manager Gstaff comments on the Official Bethesda Blog.

We're all just going to have to be a little more patient to get our hands on the modding tools. So continue to play Skyrim and learn everything you can in time for the eventual launch of the Creation Kit.

In other news version 0.12.11 of the Nexus Mod Manager has been available for download for a couple of days now and so far the feedback has been very positive with lots of important bug fixes in place. If you've been holding off on installing it or experienced problems before you might want to give NMM a go now.

The wait is annoying, yes, but it will come.

Anyone else more anxious for the CK than Christmas? <img class=">

I am, and I hate it.

At least this time they didn't say We're not talking about a CS until we feel like it more or less <img class=">

I too am spoiled. Have not been into gaming too terribly long and am certainly not what I would consider a modder, but the first thing I look for now in perusing games is are they moddable and are the mods available on the nexus. Every game site or nearly, points to the nexus for mods. Just shows the caliber of this community and this site. My hat is off to you.

I second Arethiel suggestion. Installed the latest 4GB mod yesterday and no more CTDs so far.

    To those having issues:

Try running it with the Skyrim 4GB mod. I'm running the 3rd update (of the 4GB mod) and it works like a charm. Not a single crash at all and I have several mods installed.

I'm so happy that I did not install the patch. Like they say, don't fix the game when it's not broken.

I think making money out of really good mods will likely alienate people.

Since modders are clever people, I doubt they can't make their own adverts like Google Adsense and put them on their mod profiles. This way, modders can atleast compensate for their hard work. That is, if admins allows embeding JS codes to their profiles.

Releasing a "premium content" means you HAVE to provide SUPPORT 24/7!

I for one believe that it is only fair for modders who desire some sort of compensation that they have a way of getting it. That being said, if mods begin to cost money, I doubt I'll buy any of them since money is short. I don't know how other sites (if any) allow authors to charge for mods, but I would have many questions that would need to be addressed. Like does the site get a portion of the transactions? Also I would be concerned people who download every mod that sounds great only to break their game - some mods conflict. It would be a shame to buy a "great" mod only to find it doesn't work as intended because of a conflict or even bugs that the author hasn't fixed yet. On the other hand those modders that charge for mods (aside from plain 'ol greed) would probably need to step up their game to create more professional looking/feeling mods.

Just my two cents worth on the whole potential charging thingy. Hope nexus stays up and modders continue to upload to this site. It is simply the best for mods.

I agree with xpiratosx. I'll get my mods here with NMM.
