DRAGONSLAYER BOW AND SIEGE ARROWS v1.7
------------------------------------------------------

Description:
--------------
When fighting dragons I always thought that the arrows in the game never looked like they would even get through the scales, and that some beefy "harpoon" type projectiles were in order. In that vein, this mod adds multiple types of giant anti-dragon arrow, craftable from the forge, they are as follows;

Steel Siege Arrows
Craftable in sets of 5, requires "steel smithing" perk

Dwemer Siege Arrows (new in v1.2)
Craftable in sets of 4, requires "dwarven smithing" perk

Orcish Harpoons (new in v1.3)
Craftable in sets of 3, requires "Orcish Smithing" perk.

Ebony Dragonsbane
Super powerful Ebony siege arrow, as expensive as they are deadly, requires "ebonysmithing" perk.

NOTE:- As of v1.3 all the above projectiles are "non-recoverable", so make em count!

EDIT:- Until I learn how to write scripts (so probably never) I cant prevent the siege arrows being recovered from dead bodies,
so not as "non-recoverable" as ide like :/

EDIT:- As a stopgap for the recovery issue I would reccomend downloading the following mod:

"Arrow Recovery System Overhaul" by Seb263
          http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51149/?

you can use it to set the "Durability of all arrows so they break on impact, amongst other cool things. If you set the
durability of the Siege Arrows to the lowest setting then it would make them always break on impact, achieving the
desired non-recoverablility, so try it out If you want.

Also craftable from the forge, a hench bow to fire your new HENCH arrows from:

Dragonslayer Bow

A giant and super powerful bow, takes a very long time to draw due to its immense size.  Go to a Forge and look under the "Steel" section for the recipe, dont let that fool you though, your gonna need more than just a few steel ingots to craft this beast.

NOTE:- As of v1.3 there will no longer be any optional tempering, instead there is an upgrade system reminiscent of mods like "the Huntsman".Now the Dragonslayer bow comes in 3 stages, take yours to the forge to see the requirements. Its not cheap, as you will be making a god item even more godlike. Each stage comes with a visual upgrade and a stat boost.

NOTE:- As of v1.4 there is now an optional colour change/retex to shiny chrome STEEL. Take your bow to the forge and for a modest amount of steeland silver you can give it a shiny plated makeover! Works on all versions of the Bow, and upgrade functionality is 100% preserved.

NOTE:- As of v1.5 You can now add a Scope to your Dragonslayer Bow! Do you like to turn off the crosshair for some proper screen archery? then this is for YOU. Legendary mod author Outlaw666 has been gracious enough to give me permission to use some of the assets from his no'1 endorsed bow mod; Scoped Bows, (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50528/?) now you can be the true sniper you always wanted to be!! XD
Just go to the forge and look under the "Misc" section and you will find the "Scope Upgrade Kit" craftable for a modest amount of resources. Use this item at the forge to add a scope to any version of the bow. As ever, upgrade functionality is completely preserved so you only have to add a scope once and it will stay for all subsequent upgrades, including the steel colour change.

Upgrades

I feel that I should clarify some things about the upgrade mechanic. First of all, the mod is written so that you can only craft and upgrade 1 Dragonslayer Bow. If you have any iteration of the Bow in your inventory then the recipes that would allow multiple bows will not be available, likewise the recipes for each stage of the upgrade have conditions applied to them so they will only show up in the crafting menu If you have the previous level in your inventory.

For example:

If you have no version of the bow in your inventory you will only have the recipe for the  " Dragonslayer Bow"

If you have the " Dragonslayer Bow", then the recipe for the " Dragonslayer Bow MkI", the "Steel Plated Dragonslayer Bow", and the "Scoped Dragonslayer Bow" will become available, and so on and so forth etc...

This system is there for balance and to avoid adding unnecessary clutter to the crafting menu, as this mod adds 20 recipes (More like 30 in the N2T version).

Of course, If you want to have 10 companions armed with Scoped MkII's then you are welcome to crack open the esp with Tes5edit to get the item codes, thats strictly DIY tho ;)

Tempering Version

For anyone who has a burning need to use the vanilla tempering system I have made a new version just for you. Now all variants of the bow are temperable at the sharpening wheel. While the upgrade tree is preserved, all the variants in this version have identical damage stats.
So the upgrades in the temperable version are purely cosmetic, and to reflect this they now use WAY less materials to perform.
HOWEVER, I MUST STRESS THAT TEMPERING WILL NOT CARRY OVER WHEN UPGRADING. So If you have your "epic" Dragonslayer Bow and you decide to
take it to the forge and upgrade it to a Dragonslayer Bow MkI it will no longer be "epic" and you will have to temper it again at the sharpening wheel.
Savvy?

Dragonslayer Shortbow

By request I have added a new normal sized bow with the same aesthetic. The shortbow can be upgraded in 3 stages like the longbow, can be given the steel recolour, and can be tempered at all stages. There is no scope upgrade for the Shortbow, but it has a simple sight that lines up with the targeting reticle so you can still go hud-less if you want to.
The addon is also completely standalone, so you can install it alongside or without the main mod to your preference.

EDIT:- As of v1.7 the shortbows are now included in the mainfile esp for both the vanilla and N2T versions, the standalone version will be left on the download page under "optional" for posterity.

EDIT:- Nexus user Clevon has generously made a nice FOMOD installer for v1.7, that includes all options and clear descriptions. This will be the main file from now on, thankyou Clevon!!

NOTE:-The above bows and arrows are OP on vanilla dragons, if you want to justify having such tools I definitely recommend the following mods to beef up your dragon encounters:

Deadly Dragons - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3829/?

Dragon Combat Overhaul - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32597/?

Nock to Tip Version:
-----------------------
By request there is a compatible version in the downloads section. In this version all the above arrows are craftable from the fletching station, there are some new custom ingredients needed to do this and they are available to craft and purchase. The Dragonslayer Bow is now upgradeable at the re-stringing bench with both 80lb and 120lb bow strings. For balance the Archery skill requirements are pretty high though.

UPDATE:- The new Bow upgrades implemented in v1.3 will not be doable from the re-stringing bench. You will still have to take the bow to the forge to make the MkI and MkII upgrades, but the only prerequisites are having the ingredients needed, so its still lore for pure archer characters. All versions of the bow can still be re-stringed for MOAR DAMAGE, and strings will carry over with the forge upgrades so no need to re-string for each step IE: If your MkI has an 80lb string it will still have it after you forge it to MkII etc, etc....

If you are unfamiliar with "Nock to Tip", go here and check it out:  http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60219/?

Known Bugs:
---------------

For reasons unbeknownst to mortal man, If you go to your inventory and drop any of the bows they do strange things, like spawn 25 feet from you
inside a wall, or generally get stuck in geometry, and if you try to drop them in an open worldspace cell then sometimes they just disappear completely. I dont know what is causing this, exactly. So my advice is dont drop them! You can put them into any container and give them to anyone, that all works fine. Generally most people will never encounter this bug unless you want to use Jaxons re-namer, that requires you target the object outside the inventory window.
In the Miscellaneous section of the downloads page there are some meshes that attempt to fix this, or i should say they fix it in interior cells, but the
problem still persists in open worldspace cells.

So in conclusion: dont drop the bows!

If you know how to fix this im all ears.

Future plans:
---------------

Maybe add some sort of quest element to the acquisition? Like having find some books on building siege weapons being necessary in
unlocking each level of projectile/bow, something like that maybe? Its on the drawing board.
