You can also find Better Arvak on the Skyrim Special Edition Nexus. I've released three Xbox One versions of the mod: Better Arvak [XB1], Better Arvak (Skeletal) [XB1] and Better Arvak (Armored) [XB1]. Feel free to check out my other mods and please don't forget to endorse the mods if you like them.

The new update introduces a new Arvak mesh replacer which uses the assets from the Arvak Replace mod with permission from chucacu. Please note that if you use this option you will only need one of the main files without a saddle because Arvak Replace comes with one that's already merged with the horse.

Okay, maybe someone could help me with this, but I am having the strangest problem with this mod now. For some reason, Arvak is randomly becoming the ghost horse version (transparent and blue) even though I don't even have that mesh downloaded or installed. I am using the Swift Steed mesh, and can load up some old saves where Arvak is fine and displaying the correct model. It started when I traveled from Dawnstar down through Fort Dunstad. When I summoned Arvak there, he suddenly become the ghost version. Backing up to a save when I was in Dawnstar, he is fine. The strangest case is when I fast traveled to Loreious Farm (he's fine), walk up to the build site at Heljarchen Hall (he's still fine), look down at the table to get started on the construction of the small house, and I turn around, and he is a ghost horse out of nowhere. I have tried quitting out of the game when he is glitched and this does not help, I have tried fast traveling when he is glitched to no avail, I have done a fresh install of the base Arvak mod and the Swift Steed mesh to no help. I have checked in TES5Edit and nothing is conflicting with the mod. This is driving me a little insane that it is such an odd bug. Please, can anyone provide any assistance?

Edit: After a lot more trial and error, this change seems to be time-based. At about midnight, for some reason, Arvak takes on the ghost appearance. After about 6 AM, he takes on the regular appearance selected when summoned. I don't think he was like this before, so there must be some new mod interaction that is causing this change, but I can't seem to pin it down. This happens even if I use the armor-plated mesh from Arvak Replace, which creates something rather interesting seeing the armor take on a ghost-like effect. I don't know, it's like something with the Better Arvak is getting crossed with the Headless Horseman horse that shows up during the night in random encounters, but the ghost effect is getting applied to Arvak the entire time that encounter might appear. Now that I know a bit about the issue though, it's less of a problem, but I would still like to know what is causing it.

Thanks for the fantastic upgrade to Arvak, and the selections of looks and stage of upgrades as well. This also combos well with the Summon Arvak - Now a Lesser Power mod (as long as it's the version that doesn't make Arvak invulnerable). Didn't try the other version of that mod for fear of conflict, but didn't feel it was as needed anyways since Arvak gets such a power boost from this mod and he can be resummoned if he ever falls anyways.

Many thanks for this mod and for the Arvak Replace porting. I was using chucacu's retext mod until yesterday, when I unfortunately found out that for some reason I can't fathom, it impedes Convenient Horses from affecting Arvak. And lemme be honest, I can't stand vanilla horses, with their short Stamina and slow movement speed / sprint >:(

So once again thanks a bunch for your service <3

When I read that the mod made Arvak look like a normal horse I was interested but I looked at the images and I was a kind of disappointed that his mane and tail weren't made of flame, like ponyta/rapidash from Pokémon or like that horse monster in myths I think it's called a nightmare.

I'll add it to my to-do list for the next time I either update the mod or find the free time to work on it. Sorry I've just returned to modding and got so much updating to do.

That mod was deleted monkaS. If you still got the files then install that mod as usual with your mod organizer, but remove the .esp file. Then just rename the horse mesh from that mod to arvakr.nif and paste it in the directory like the ones you see in the Arvak mesh replacer options in this mod (Meshes\Actors\Horse\Character Assets). Once you do those things you can make Arvak look like that horse instead. Just don't rename the horse textures or change the folder structure for those textures that were installed by Swift Steeds Shadowmere.

Hi, thank you for your great mod, just downloaded it because this is exactly what I was looking for. I really like that you included a bunch of options for textures and abilities. I wanted to ask you if/how I could use the dwemer armor from "Horse armors for skyrim" for arvak's saddle meshes and textures. I was able to replace the mesh by renaming the file but the same technique didn't work for textures and they simply didn't show up in game

My guess is that you renamed the textures. Just install the horse armors for skyrim mod, rename the dwemer saddle to arvakrsaddle and paste it into the same directory like the Arvak saddle mesh replacers in my mod's download section (Meshes\Actors\Horse\Character Assets) to replace the saddle mesh. There's no need to rename the dwemer saddle textures - just ensure that they remain installed with the exact same folder structure that the horse armor mod had installed them to by default - if you rename the textures or mess up the specific folder structure then the arvakrsaddle.nif will not be able to find them.
