About this mod

Removes all instances of first-person messages in Requiem and replaces them with second person messages that are a blend of vanilla, Requiem, and my own personal tweaks.

LONG DESCRIPTION, RATIONALE
I made this mod because I’ve never understood the claim that converting messages to the player in RPGs to first-person makes them more “immersive”
or that it lends itself to role-playing better. Indeed, a prescribed first-person voice seems to go against role-playing or immersion. Instead of being provided information that I can think on for myself, the game is now telling me how I think; it’s not unlike why I consider Morrowind and Oblivion’s
dialogue system better.

But I digress. The point is, I’ve never once created a character in Requiem that fits the sort of person I imagine saying these messages (and they’ve never had a fetish for ellipses). As such, I finally decided to do something about it, and made this mod.
I consider this mod a WIP. Currently, it goes through all of the messages and converts them to second person. In some cases, this simply copies over the original message. More often, though, I tried to follow Requiem’s [good] philosophy of not hand-holding the player (we've all played Skyrim before, right?) and keeping these messages autonomous; that is, you shouldn’t be seeing second-person messages that are simply reporting you the game rules. I tried to add some character in there, and make it seem like you, the player character, are making this decision in game. Furthermore, combat messages (like an enemy resisting your spell) that Requiem deletes have been kept as such. Broadly, these are the sorts of things that this mod aims for in the messages:

·        The elimination of Requiem’s (and sometimes vanilla’s) messy structure and grammar.
·        Removing, as much as can possibly be done without being unhelpful, meta-gaming messages (currently slightly inconsistent on this).
·        Periods at the end of all messages (vanilla Skyrim wasn’t consistent on this).
·        You can now tell what is being added and removed from your inventory, rather than just the item name being displayed with some
ellipses (default Requiem).
·        No more ellipses, as even with default Requiem’s structure, there was very little reason for them to be used (besides the fact
that I cordially dislike ellipses).
·        The player being granted autonomy in the second-person messages.
·        A balance between being helpful and not being overly obvious. For example, if you try and open a door without lockpicks are a
key, you will get a message that the door is locked. However, sometimes Requiem decides you don’t need to know certain things (like why a follower is
leaving you). Such messages have been restored (often with edits).

Again, please note that this is a WIP. I chiefly made this because I was sick of Requiem’s messages, and there may be a certain lack of
consistency here, including some awkward structure where I tried to hard (and
in vain) to combine Requiem and vanilla messages, typos, and a lack of
consistency in my own structure.

DISCLAIMER
I play Requiem 2.x, as I have a stable character and LO there that I don’t have the time to update. As such, this mod was made
on that version, although this should work for all versions of Requiem. Please note, though, that all changes are made with the supposition that these were
not changed in versions of Requiem beyond 2.0.

OTHER NOTES
Two things:

First, I'd like to say that I made this mod primarily for myself. I am uploading it because I thought other people might appreciate this work. However, please note
that I don’t have a lot of time for this; updates won’t be terribly frequent, but I will try to stay on top of things. Also, bear with me on typos and the
like – I do fine with proofreading other’s work, but I’m absolutely terrible at proofreading my own stuff. If you find mistakes, either in the mod or in my
description (yikes), simply point them out to me. And I do apologize for the slightly haphazard setup of this mod page; my focus is on the mod.

Second, there are one or two messages that suppose you use Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul with its Requiem patch. In this uploaded version, its in regards to giving you details about the alchemy table. There is also a message regarding bartering that supposes you are using SkyUI's barter menu. I realize that not everyone uses these mods (or that some of you may use SkyUI away). I will consider making versions without references to these but, as I have limited time, it will be low priority. If you take matters into your own hands you can upload it yourself or send it to me and I will host it here with credit (the latter is my preferred). I have also started doing this with loading screens, which will also make references to Immersive Speechcraft Redone (since I use that mod as well).

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
·        Update the mod to have a more consistent structure in messages, as in technical writing, while still maintaining character
autonomy. Also fix some of the more nebulous and unhelpful messages (like distinguishes when you're gaining XP as a Vampire Lord and when
you get a perk).
·        Fix any typos or missed messages (please PM me if you find them).
·        Hit the loading screens. Hard. I’ve already begun this, but it’s going to take some time.
·        Possibly perk descriptions. Again, here I’ll be trying to follow Requiem’s philosophy of not flatly giving you percentages, but trying to clean up the existing perk descriptions (if necessary). If you want percentages for Requiem 2.0, I would recommend “Less Nebulous Perk Descriptions.” Conversely, if you want more “nebulous” perk descriptions for Requiem 3.x, you might find it helpful to keep an eye on this mod.
·       Fix the structure and punctuation in the messages regarding your follow picking a lock for you. I tried this already, but TES5Edit wouldn't let me copy all the words over from Word. My CK is crashing, so this may take me a while to get you. It's a relatively minor error, in any case.

CREDITS
Credits largely go to the creators of Requiem, new and old,and Bethesda. I’m acting more as an editor while injecting a little bit of my
own work into it. Also, a large amount of credit goes to the makers of the wonderful TES5Edit. Huge thanks to them for making such a powerful, easy-to-use tool that even a novice like me can figure out.

PERMISSION
I will only ever upload to the Nexus. You may upload this mod elsewhere with my permission. If you want to upload this mod along with a compilation,
or combine it with an existing/your own mod, simply give me credit. There is no need to contact me.
