Thank you so much for this. This is one of my "must-have" mods for any and every playthrough I do. Makes the game a lot more immersive too, especially for fighters or any characters who just don't want to be able to use healing and flames without learning them first or at all. Endorsed!

Yeah, this would be great if it still worked... but it creates the odd effect for me now of possibly duplicating a spell. Started without fire or heal and decided to give a character heal from a spell book, which resulted in two copies of heal now in my spells inventory!

Thank you very much for this mod. I love to play as a magic-user but I always thought that it would be so much more immersive if my character learned the spells during her adventures rather than before I even start the game. Are there any mods that make the player weaker at character creation (reduces the amount they have in their perks, etc) or a mod that allows me to choose what I want to specialize in?

Character Creation Overhaul is the only mod I can think of that would give you the ability to better specialize your character, it does quite a good job of bringing over the class selection(creation) system from Oblivion.

Just noticed that the mod no longer seems to be working. I started the game without both spells, but as soon as I found a Frostbite Tome and learned the spell from it, Flames and Healing came back.

What's the point in adding spell tomes in Helgen and the Riverwood trader? Aren't there Flames and Healing tomes already in the vanilla game?

Amazing, works like a charm. Good thing is that i dont even need to strat a new game to get rid of these two spells with this mod. I have recently modified a custom race to create a race of my own design (yeah i am kind of terrible at creating new stuff so i modified something for my own tastes) this particular race has stunted magicka and constant 100pts magicka drain, so it was quite pointless to have any starting spells at all. Thank you so much.

    It worked!

But the spells have somehow come back and now I can't get rid of them.

    Quite the mystery...

edit: Nevermid, I'm a fool, it seems to work with SkyRe.

Brilliant little mod, a shame to have so few endorsements.

    This is great.

It works with Alternate Start - Live Another Life.

The only other mod I've seen to remove the starting spells is not compatible with mods that change the game start.

Note that this mod does *NOT* remove any spells other than healing and flames. If you choose a race that gets additional spells, you wil still gain those extra spells when you slect your race.

I really want to make a mod that gives more appropriate starting spells to each race, ex:

    Altmer - Healing, Sparks, Fury
    Argonian - Healing
    Bosmer - None
    Breton - Healing, Conjure Familiar
    Dunmer - Flames, Sparks
    Imperial - Healing
    Khajiit - None
    Nord - None
    Orsimer - None
    Redguard - Oakflesh

Anyways, if I get that working (I dont think it will be that hard, I probably just have to find the lists) maybe I can make a version that removes all of the spells.
