DESCRIPTION

This mod adds voice sets for your player character, allowing them to comment on things like finding new locations, encountering enemies, gaining skills, and much more. There are several male and female voices, including child and goblin-type voices. The voice sets are kindly provided by Kikiapplus and team under the excellent Custom Voice Resource - CVR mod. Though the CVR mod was originally intended for followers and NPCs, with Kikiapplus' permission, I've converted it for use by the player. If you enjoy this mod, please consider endorsing the original resource!

The mod is intended to work with HHaleyy's PC Head Tracking and Voice Type framework. You must install PC Head Tracking and Voice Type before you install this mod.

If you use nanahane's Additional Player Voices for Skyrim framework, I've made a version for that framework as well. Click here to get it.

For Skyrim SE, install the SE version of PC Head Tracking and Voice Type, then install my mod.

INSTALLATION

  • For classic Skyrim, install PC Head Tracking and Voice Type. For Skyrim SE, install PC Head Tracking and Voice Type SE.
  • Install this mod with a mod manager. Alternatively, download and unpack to your Skyrim directory. The files are in 7z format, so if you want to unpack them manually, use an unzipping tool that can open this format, like 7-zip or WinZip.

Note: Only install one voice set at a time. For more information, see COMPATIBILITY NOTES below.

SELECTING THE VOICE TYPE IN GAME

PC Head Tracking and Voice Type has an MCM that allows you to activate a custom (Bring Your Own) voice type. To enable the voice type:

  • Open the MCM for PC Head Tracking and Voice Type.
  •  Set B.Y.O Voice Type to ON.

For more information about enabling and disabling B.Y.O voice types, see PC Head Tracking and Voice Type.

UNINSTALLATION

  • In the MCM for PC Head Tracking and Voice Type, set B.Y.O Voice Type to OFF.
  • Uninstall with a mod manager. Alternatively, remove all the files and folders that came with this mod.

Note: Uninstalling this mod does not uninstall PC Head Tracking and Voice Type.  If you want to uninstall PC Head Tracking and Voice Type, see that mod's description for instructions.

COMPATIBILITY NOTES

PC Head Tracking and Voice Type has one source folder for custom voice types: [Skyrim installation directory]\Data\Sound\FX\PC Head Tracking. This means that you can only install one custom voice at a time. If you install more than one voice, the new voice set will overwrite the previous one.

OTHER NOTES

You can safely remove any sound files you don't like, or even delete whole directories if you don't want your character to comment on a particular event. For example, some lines are most appropriate if the Dragonborn has a follower they might be addressing. If you don't use followers, you can delete anything that doesn't work for you.

I set it up so that there is a chance that characters won't always comment on most events. If you want to increase the likelihood of comments on a particular event, find the relevant directories and add more files, for example, by copying and pasting additional copies of existing ones. You can have a maximum of 5 files per event, with the exception of the Greetings category, which allows up to 10 files. If you want the characters to never comment on some of these events, find and remove the contents of relevant folders.

The characters will always use their Goodbye, Hello, and Random greetings when relevant. This is because those greetings can be triggered manually, and I didn't want a situation where you'd press, for example, the Hello key, and the character wouldn't respond.

Especially of note for the six grown-up female voices and the male voices added in ver. 2, some of their Goodbye and Hello greetings are romantic - for example, "Hello, darling". If you don't want your Dragonborn to accidentally hit on the local hobo, either remove/replace these lines, or set the Automatic Greeting threshold to Lovers.

VOICES

See below for a list of available voices and some samples. Note that the samples were made by Kikiapplus for the CVR resource, and not every line present in the samples is used by this mod, but they should give you a general idea of what each voice sounds like.

FEMALE VOICES

Female - Sweet

A lovable space case who celebrates her successes with sweetrolls and hopes to see a unicorn one day, Sweet is a good girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. Combat might scare her a little but that won't stop her from being the best adventurer she can be!

Sample: https://soundcloud.com/kerstynungerva/sweet

Female - Salty

Salty may or may not be a bad person deep down, but she sure is grumpy. Snarky and cynical, she's a fierce fighter and always ready with a quip. Good voice type for morally grey characters who don't have a lot of patience for others.

Female - Rose

Rose is beautiful, and she knows it... and likes it. She appreciates the finer things in life, and is sensitive to beauty in all its forms. A sexy, seductive, yet refined character.

Female - Thorn

A dark, menacing voice, suitable for vampires, demons, necromancers, and assorted evil ladies. Thorn can go from low-key and quietly threatening to laughing maniacally as her enemies die around her.

Female - Tempest

Tempest is a cool customer. She's been everywhere, done everything, and nothing much phases her anymore. However, her emotionless exterior hides the fact that she's actually a caring person inside.

Sample: https://soundcloud.com/kerstynungerva/tempest-follower-voice-sample

Female - Merchant

Merchant is in this mostly for the money... although she has a hidden adventurous streak, too. She's no hero but she will fight hard if her back is to the wall. Always on the lookout for treasures and opportunities, this voice is perfect for a thief or any character who knows that money makes the world go round.

Female - Goblin

Ever wanted to roleplay as a female goblin? If so, have I got a treat for you! (Note: very much not the sexy type of goblin. Seriously, so many lines in this voice set are rightly described as "gross breathing" in transcription.) Goblin isn't especially smart, and she isn't really plucky either, but, uh, she likes to lick walls, and that's... something, I guess?

Female Child - Gretal

Gretal is just a kid but she wants everyone to know that she has a mean swing. She likes pranks, she can be a bit of a pest, and she's still trying to decide what she wants to do once she's grown up.

MALE VOICES

Male - Charming

He's soft-spoken, he's polite, and he feels sorry whenever he has to kill someone; Charming is a good man through and through. A chivalrous voice for a chivalrous Dragonborn.

Sample: https://soundcloud.com/christian-gaughf/charming-follower-voice-type-audio

Male - Dagger

A dark, deep, growly voice type, perfect for a character who's badass, and probably rather evil as well. No one who opposes him will live very long, that's for sure... and that's just how Dagger likes it.

Sample:

Male - Jaded

Jaded is a rogue, a rascal, and a dedicated troublemaker. He may have a softer side to him, but few get to know him well enough to discover it.

Male - Lilac

The perfect voiceset if you want to roleplay a stuck-up noble. Lilac likes plotting to take over Skyrim, reminding everyone how rich and successful he is, and talking people's ears off about the Arena. In short, he's a comical prat. But don't be mistaken - he can fight hard, too. Even if afterwards he's going to whine about getting blood on his outfit.

Male - Pure

A naive young lad seeing the world for the first time, Pure is inexperienced, but he makes up for it with enthusiasm. He may be more of a farmboy than a legendary hero, but he's ready to tackle any challenge! Perhaps one of these days someone will even explain to him what skooma is and what really goes on at Helga's bunkhouse.
