This post describes and provides steps to debugging common issues with my mod. If your problem is not addressed there, then please read the rest of this post.

If you are experiencing any of the following:

    1) Crashing to desktop upon loading the game, or the game will not start at all, then you are missing the requirements for this mod to function. You must download and install the basic requirements for my mod, as well as the requirements for any optional plugins or patches that you chose to install in the installer.

If you are missing just one dependency, your game will not start, or it will crash upon starting. This is the case for any mod that has dependencies on other plugins.

    2) Vampirism is not working (skin tone is changing, eyes are not becoming vampire-like, you aren’t getting the vampire powers or abilities, etc). You can try one or more of the following:

    Spoiler:

    * Try reinstalling the mod and rereading the installation guide. When installing you must make selections based on what vampire overhaul you are using, if any. If you are using Better Vampires, select Better Vampires; if you are using Sacrosanct, select Sacrosanct; if you are not using any overhaul, select none.
    * Read the Load Order section, and make sure you followed the load order instructions for the vampire overhaul (if any) that you selected in the installer. Better Vampires and Sacrosanct have specific and different load orders in order to be compatible with my mod, so you must load them correctly.
    * If your skin tone is reverting to the default purple dwemer skin tone, install RaceMenu and its requirements. This should fix that.

    3) You are experiencing clipping in the face, brow, beard, etc on your male or female dwemer. This can be fixed by either installing Ethereal Overhaul, or Aesthetic Elves.

    Spoiler:

    * If you installed Ethereal Elven Overhaul, you MUST make sure that you load EEO's mod folder at the bottom of your load order, and EEO's plugin at the bottom of your plugin order. If anything overwrites either EEO's mod folder or plugins, EEO's mesh fixes won't work.

    4) FOR EVERYTHING ELSE

Everyone’s modlists are different, so there is not a specific fix for everything.

The best you can do is isolate the source of the problem. You can do this by following this debugging procedure:

    Spoiler:

    I) Disable every mod in your modlist except for my mod’s and its most basic requirements (disable any of my mod’s optional plugins as well). Start up the game, and try to reproduce the bug. If it persists, then it is a problem with my mod, and should be reported. If it does not, proceed to the next step.

II) If the problem does not occur, or cannot be reproduced, then the problem is on your end. It may be an unidentified mod incompatibility, or it might have something to do with your load order. Now you need to identify and isolate the mod that is causing this problem.

III) Put all the mods that you usually play with into small or manageable groups (I usually do this in groups of 20-40).

IV) Then enable each group one by one, starting from the top of your modlist to the bottom. When starts to occur again, then that means that there is a mod or several mods in that group that are causing the problem. Disable the group and enable each mod in the group one by one until you can reproduce the bug. If a mod that you enabled causes the bug, then it is likely the source of the problem.

    V) Once you’ve found the source of the problem, disable that mod, re-enable all your other mods, and start the game. Try reproducing the bug, and if the bug does not occur, then the mod that you isolated in step IV is the source of the problem.

VI) If the problem persists, then there may be another mod in your load order that is helping cause this problem. Repeat steps III and IV until you’ve isolated all the problem sources in your modlist, and include the names of the mods in your bug report.
