Of Greed And Glory
As you may or may not know, the Thalmor have been at war with the Monli nation over the shipping lanes to gain control and profit from the trade stocks that passed through.
A literal evil, they took and destroyed massive amounts of crops in an attempt to choke off the food supply to the Monli army while they were expecting supply ships to fortify themselves and win against the Monli's.
The leader of the Monli nation caught wind of this and sent destroyer ships out to intercept them. Some were sank while other ships were taken over, confiscating their supplies.
With a renewed supply of food and better weapons, the Monli's took the war to another level and went after the Thalmor with great vigor.
One morning, just before sunrise, they made a bold move to use fire arrows and set the camp tents ablaze. Thalmor were running everywhere and were picked off as flank armies were set up about the same time just before the strike. "We take no prisoners!" Many died within a few hours of fighting.
Very few Thalmor survived the assault taking refuge in the hills and mountains waiting for any rescue ship that could take them back to Tamriel. Defeat was not an option. However, they would rather be beheaded for failure than be killed and left for dead at the hands of any Monli.
To this day, Songbird was the last war refugee bound for Skyrim, never knowing that her people eventually won.
