Experienced this issue as well using the Special Edition patch with Enderal: Forgotten Stories (Special Edition), where the lighting in the house seemed to flicker which also affected performance where the FPS (Frames per Second) dropped from 60 to ~30; as noted, can't remember having any issues till that point. Continued playing with the mission A Song in the Silence and the game simply crashed / showed a black screen on the left side after entering the door at the waterfall, tried disabling and enabling mods, and disabling Kids of Enderal did the trick...will play with the mod disabled for the time being as it seems that there appears to be an issue specifically with the Kids of Enderal version of the character Ryneus that seems to cause issues / crashes.
I had the same problem, so I turned off the mod right before and continued with A Song in the Silence. After fighting Rineus in the waterfall cave, you are supposed to go to Rineus's house and spend Rineus's last moments with him if it's normal, but when I went to Rineus's house, he was already dead. I was able to get the black stone and complete the quest.
Experienced the exact same issue and just found a temporary fix for it.
The problem comes from the clothes that Ryneus is wearing. For some reason, the mesh for the model is buggy and causes lighting issues. If you go on EnderalSSEEdit/xEdit/etc, find ChildRaynessClothesAA under Armor Addon in TKAA.esp. There, go to the record for Male World Model.

This just swaps the faulty mesh for a similar one in the same mesh folder. The textures match and there's no major difference besides the lack of the necklace (not sure why the No Necklace Patch doesn't clear this up). I'd still have to play through the quest just to verify it doesn't crash later on for another unforeseen reason, but the lighting bug in his house has cleared up. Hope this helps.
Any chance for an Enderal port of "RS Children Overhaul"? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2650?tab=posts&BH=12 I really love your NPC overhaul, but these kids here scare the hell outta me.. the look unnatural and creepy.. the ones in the mentioned mod are amazing and would fit great to your NPC overhaul.
Make sure you're using the right version...LE or SE... Make sure plugin is checked in Enderal Launcher...Mod consists of meshes, texture folders and Esp, check that they're present in Data.
I don't have the SE version of Skyrim so I did installed the other version It seems that Vortex is installing the mods in the Skyrim folder and not the Enderal folder... Don't know if that's a problem or not
EDIT : I copied the mod files from the Skyrim folder to the Enderal folder and restarded Vortex, it worked ! I didn't had the Calia setup choices on the NPC Overhault installation though. But now the children and NPCs have better faces ^^
Is there maybe a mod that makes the kids less ugly but less anime-like? This mod makes them not only look unrealistic and anime-like, but they also look all the same (faces). Which technically is the definition of anime-like, lol. Would appreciate some suggestions, but will keep looking otherwise.
Yeah I agree, unfortunately they're still clones of each other, not to mention the creepy smile. I think this mod is using the older version of The Kids are Alright, not the one that recently came out. Still nice initiative by the author, Enderal badly needs a children overhaul mod.
Jesus Christ how did i manage to miss this? Thank you for pointing that out.
Just out curiosity, if you don't mind? How did you manage to load the mod in the Creation Kit? It always outright crashes for me when it load an Enderal mod, even with the CK Fixes installed.
For SSE version, I installed Enderal as a mod. And I use CK as I would normally use SSE CK. It works for me out of the box, I too use CK fixes. But I didn't do anything special. I extracted bsa to loose files for CK to see textures, but that's it.
Oh crap, that means i should have gone for the Nexus version of Enderal if i wanted an easier time modding the game? Yeah, that makes sense, come to think of it.
Bummer.
Nevertheless, thanks for providing the information i needed, i appreciate it.
There is a dead child in Fort Valstaag. Her name is Jasmine. When this mod is enabled she does not appear. A large red exclamation mark is present in her place. I have included the Enderal wiki details, which will identify the location.
I made sure to conduct multiple test. By the way, this is in reference to Enderal SE.
Yeah, I know about her, saw while my playthrough. I fixed it for myself, but didn't upload the updated version, I'm sorry about that. I uploaded the fixed version now 1.7. Still thank you very much for testing the mod, if u have any more issues, let me know.

thx a ton!
I did installed and enabled it, but it doesn't work at all...
Any reason why ?
I must do something wrong but can't figure out what

I only reached this mod here cause i was tired of vanilla kids all having the same weird crappy faces.
I'd do it myself but the only time i tried to convert a mod containing npcs i got a bunch of random crashes for my troubles.
