    Let's be clear:

    1. Install the main mod (follow instructions! )

    2. Install "Unofficial High Resolution Patch --COMPATIBLE VERSION--", overwrite when asked, if NMM asks choose to install the patch as a standalone mod

So in the end in NMM you should have the mod AND the patch both active!

    Bye!

Should also put on here so that people know....

IF you use one of the HYBRID versions HYBRID (1024+2048 ) or HYBRID + VANILLA NORMAL MAPS, you will still need to install Bethesda's Official Hi-Res DLC as well.

IF you use the Full 1024 "Standalone" version then you DO NOT need the Bethesda's Official Hi-Res DLC.

Just thought I would clarify that for ppl since I had asked the same question myself, but had to dig through the comments to find the answer lol, so hopefully this will save ppl some time and you less headache from answering the same questions over and over again lol.

EDIT: Also if you use the Full 1024 "Standalone" version then you DO NOT need the Unofficial High Resolution Patch either.

      Hi

      For installation

      1: Bethesda Hi-Res Optimized - UNIVERSAL-

      2: UPDATE PACK

3: Unofficial High Resolution Patch - COMPATIBLE VERSION -

      This is how to do?

      Or is it:

      1: UPDATE PACK

2: High Resolution Unofficial Patch - COMPATIBLE VERSION -

      Sorry for my limited English.

      1. Bethesda Hi-Res Optimized -UNIVERSAL my advice is to not overwrite texture mods you have installed
      2. Unofficial high resolution patch -COMPATIBLE VERSION- overwrite all.

      Done

you can get the compatible here, manual only. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/download/1000009369/?

why does the Hybrid 1024+2048 needs the Official Hi res DLC? while the 1024+1024 does not. isnt 1024+2048 higher than 1024+1024?

If I'm not mistaken, the official High Res DLC uses higher-res textures than this mod offers. This is an optimisation mod to reduce the performance impact of certain textures which don't offer much visual improvement.

Eternoretorno, la opcion menos pesada en vram es la standalone 1024+1024. Con ella no necesitaras ni el hi-res pack oficial ni el unofficial hi-res patch. Simplemente descargas esa y la instalas.

Hmm I installed this with NMM and it doesn't show up in my Data Files list and there is no change of textures in game. Anyone know what's going on? I'm using the normal 1024 pack

The problem why most people dont understand how to install this mod is because during the installation there isnt any "standalone" or "hybrid" options listed in the installer. Its listed as

      00 Core Files
01 Hi-Res Secondary stuff --SELECT ONE--
01 Vanilla Secondary stuff --SELECT ONE--
02 Hybrid + Vanilla NM files
      03 'character' Vanilla
      04 'dragon' Vanilla
      05 'effects' Vanilla
      06 'trees' Vanilla

I could see how someone could get confused on how to install this standalone with such vague instructions and options as this. In your installation guide just list which options to select in order to get the results the user wants.

      2-Unofficial High Resolution Patch
3-Unofficial High Resolution Patch --COMPATIBLE VERSION and overwrite

You should check the names it seems that the mod organizer gives the patch and and the patch compatible version the same name.

Either rename the compatible patch during installation and put it after the patch or click on merge if you are only ever going to use this patch/mod without modifying it. Merge is the function to use if you want to apply a fix rather than a patch because it is kind of annoying to have a fix/hotfix for every little mod out there that requires it especially if you know that you aren't going to update it in a while.

Patches should ideally be installed and put after the mod in the left pane to overwrite it.

Otherwise just organize these mods in the correct order. Sometimes renaming in mod organizer is required to maintain the mod isolation.

      Hi All,
Just a little confused.. but if somebody can clarify the below. Doing a clean install with ref to REALVISION ENB links and comments and ref to vids from GOPHER and a few others... Untick default HighResTexturePack 01,02.03 etc...

      Referring to Sticky from Vano89...

      1. Install the main mod (follow instructions! ) - which I believe is the ... Bethesda Hi-Res Optimized --UNIVERSAL--
      2. Install "Unofficial High Resolution Patch --COMPATIBLE VERSION--", overwrite when asked...

Then I believe I can install the following...

      Unofficial Skyrim Patch http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19
      Unofficial Dawnguard Patch http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23491
      Unofficial Hearthfire Patch http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25127
      Unofficial Dragonborn Patch http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31083
      Unofficial High Resolution Patch http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31255/

but I wasn't sure if the last one was needed? The Unofficial High Resolution Patch (by Unofficial Patch Project Team) 20:37, 8 May 2014 version 1.1.7... or is it part of the "2. Install "Unofficial High Resolution Patch --COMPATIBLE VERSION--", overwrite when asked" as I beleieve that's also from the Quarn & the Unofficial Patch Project Team.. or do I just install it and over write anything?

If anybody is able to confirm.. That would be great

      Kind Regards,
      Kingkenny

wait, will all of my textures and graphics mods still be working in game after I overwrite all with the compatible version or no? And i've done this before but it does not show up in my Plugins list or even my data files in my normal skyrim launcher, and I really didn't notice much of a difference either..

Just to help people who might be confused:

      --> Hybrid "2048 + 1024"

      1) Install the High Resolution DLC (and the unofficial patch, if you wish)
      2) Choose "Hi-Res 1024 Secondary stuff Textures" when installing this mod

      --> Hybrid "2048 + 1024" + vanilla normal maps

      1) Install the High Resolution DLC (and the unofficial patch, if you wish)
      2) Choose "Hi-Res 1024 Secondary stuff Textures" when installing this mod
      3) Choose "Hybrid + Vanilla Normal Map files" when installing this mod

      --> Full 1024

      1) DO NOT install the High Resolution DLC
      2) Choose "Hi-Res 1024 Secondary stuff Textures" when installing this mod

      *****

      - A few notes:

You may go even lower (texture size-wise) by installing the OPTIONAL files, like the reduced Characters, Dragon and Effects textures. These are all 512. You can further mix-and-match if you want.

In case you'd like to do a manual install you need to add the "00 Core files" folder too since it is mandatory.

      The mod works this way:
The DLC textures (2048) which replaced the lowest vanilla ones (512) were reduced to 1024. Not all vanilla Skyrim textures are 512, some are 1024, hence why the 1024 version is considered standalone: the remaining texture files are already there in the game.

The whole process was explained here:

vemnox - Choose "merge." This will replace anything that's been changed by the patch, but it will leave the rest alone.

You can install this last just be sure when asked if you want to overwrite the existing files hit no. Do not use a a mod manager to do the install as that will just overwrite your existing files in most cases.

Okey now that i've got time, lets say the things in a proper way. First of all i thank you very much for this mod development.
Second i learned i do need unoficcial patches for great performance, no ctds and so on ( belive it or not, i never played with them and managed to get 2 hours of playing until it went to desktop or freeze while i was playing with 20gb of mods).
So the fact is, i was doing a new and clean install (including base game) and i noticed between unoffical patchs i needed unofficial legendary edition. all in all, fine. The problem comes when i read in that post there's a recommended unofficial patch for some hi-res mod. I say some mod cause i was using just Skyrim HD 2K and Serious HD retexture skyrim. So i said well, lets give it a try! And then i noticed unofficial high resolution patch does need 3 main .esps, wich comes from this mod. First answer, i dont use this mod, should i install unoficcial high resolution patch?

Third. I have to say my english is poor, bad even, but it is enough to learn how to do's. The required level of english to handle instructions is quite simple. In most of cases, download with MO, follow instruction steps while on it, click, click, and there you go, to the next one. In this case it was a pain for me.
Why? well " First time installation, using nmm or wyre bash ( i assume you can also use Mod organicer since i didnt find in any mod you should use NMM better than MO) you still have to make a choice", knowing i can run gtaV smooth with medium-high graphics stuff, also 8gb of RAM, i 've chosen Hybrid in both menus. So lets get to the second part of the install wich tells you to activate .esps if you've chosen hybrid. Those .esps does not exist.
So wtf is going on? My life was simple before i started with unofficial shits D:
I assume instructions are not well and no matter what they says you have to use just "normal +1000 x +1000" version or something like that?.
Btw that huge post up there is confusing and not worth, everyone saying i did this, i did this other, while the main supporter says First this, second that, and it doesnt work..... So wtf is going on! *sigh*

Out of curiosity, does this mod affects rain particle size? I'm trying to pinpoint a problem with Rudy ENB where rain comes all pixelated and I can't find which mod is causing the problem.

EDIT: Nevermind; It works fine if I don't select the "manual" button in Mod Organizer. I'm leaving this here in case anyone else has the same issue.

I'm kind of stuck here. I'm just going to use the Full 1024, so that should be easy, since I don't need the official ones at all.

    1) As I understand it, I install these, and only these, two mods:
    -Bethesda Hi-Res Optimized Universal
-Unofficial High Resolution Patch - COMPATIBLE VERSION

If I am mistaken on that, please let me know.

    2) However, while attempting to install the first mod in *Mod Organizer* it doesn't like the data structure when I try to install. During installation, it gives me the "No game data on top level" notification.

What should I be doing differently?
