I made my own mod with these following values: 300 minimum height, 2 exponent and 0.04 multiplier The exponent 2 is much more realistic than using the 1.45 (or 1.65 for NPC) default exponent that the vanilla game and this mod uses, as the damage is directly dependent on impact velocity - which is a function of the square of distance (being a free fall body) The 300 minimum height avoids the issue of being damaged by a 5 feet fall like in this mod (jumping 5 feet hurts much, much less than say, hitting your head against a door frame or running into a wall), but with the realistic exponent the range at which you may die from falling is substantially lower than vanilla and much more realistic - the range between being damaged and dying is also narrower, which is realistic (a 10 feet fall hurts much, much more than a 5 feet fall), and also adds the uncertainty of gauging whether a jump will kill you (with this mod and vanilla, you either know you will/won't be hurt, and can easily guess how much damage you will eat), adding to the realism and immersion.
this mod is really cool and I love it but can you make the fall dmg to animals the way it was? like in helgen where spiders jump down they die instantly and it kills the immersion. thank you
It's been fixed now. My apologies for the delayed update, I have not been focusing very much on the LE version of any mods lately, but now things should work here just as they do in SSE.
I can fully understand why someone would feel that a mod like this may seem a bit too drastic, especially as used as we are to computer games.
If you jump down a few steps in the stairs, or from a kitchen table down on the floor, it will hurt your knees and feet quite a bit. As I pointed out in the description, I don't just want it to be yet another mod that just makes the game harder. I want to discourage people from making any jump they wouldn't actually do willingly in real life.
A lot of things that may seem easy in games or movies is actually really hard or dangerous in real life once you think about it for a while.
only if you are dumb or something I can easily jump from something 10 feet high and not hurt my self if you first land on the balls of your feet then the heels of your feet and crouch to avoid shock
The fall demage is not realistic, you should add things like broken legs or smaller debuffs when falling from bodyheight falls instead of instead dead which is just silly jump from a small wall do you instantly die? I dont think so xD and also there should be % chances for these wounds
I can agree to an extent. Adding more features and details would probably improve the quality further. What I am aiming for with this small mod in its current stage though, is simply to see a mechanic that forces the player to actually consider each jump they take.
In the end, it's not really about the damage in itself, but rather an attempt of making the player stop and think before jumping from a ledge. Because even if the real-life equivalent would be less harmful to some, they wouldn't just make such a jump without being mentally prepared for it.
Wow. I love this style mod. Thank U man. It get qlmost reaistic that need another mod for character standing on the fire include created campfire at the mod will cause hurt.
As a superior individual who has great intellect and common sense, I have jumped from the top of a flight of stairs (approximately 4-5 metres high) and landed flat on my feet. Even for an adult, this is quite a drop, but I was 12 years of age at the time.
SmedleyDButler has some cool ideas about where we could take this further. In particular, I'm more interested in replacing increased damage per height fallen with a debuff system. Now my point is, using this mod as it was intended, this damage would be fixed by chugging a potion or two, or just running with healing spells until I was all better. In my experience, this intense pain lingered for about an hour, and walking was painful on my feet to the point where I traveled through my home on my knees (a hilarious sight, I assure you). Is there any chance you would be willing to work on a system that adapts to the height or damage taken from a fall - and apply a movement speed and/or stamina/health regeneration debuff on the player character?
It would be sweet to take a fall off a cliff, and to have that pain on your character linger for at least a few minutes... Rather than falling off a cliff, chugging healing potions and jogging it off like the cold weather. Food for thought. Thanks!

It's refreshing to take immersive fall damage.
11/10.
300 minimum height, 2 exponent and 0.04 multiplier
The exponent 2 is much more realistic than using the 1.45 (or 1.65 for NPC) default exponent that the vanilla game and this mod uses, as the damage is directly dependent on impact velocity - which is a function of the square of distance (being a free fall body)
The 300 minimum height avoids the issue of being damaged by a 5 feet fall like in this mod (jumping 5 feet hurts much, much less than say, hitting your head against a door frame or running into a wall), but with the realistic exponent the range at which you may die from falling is substantially lower than vanilla and much more realistic - the range between being damaged and dying is also narrower, which is realistic (a 10 feet fall hurts much, much more than a 5 feet fall), and also adds the uncertainty of gauging whether a jump will kill you (with this mod and vanilla, you either know you will/won't be hurt, and can easily guess how much damage you will eat), adding to the realism and immersion.
like in helgen where spiders jump down they die instantly and it kills the immersion.
thank you

Good thing kids are made of rubber!
