As most of you have been aware, I tend to come and go in modding. This time, after losing my work on the long, long overdue updates to Sounds of Skyrim, I will stop working on them for good. The lack of motivation to modding Skyrim in general and the fact that I'd have to start again doesn't make me want to continue the updates. This is why from today, I allow anyone to make updates, add-ons and patches or even to port it to Skyrim Legendary Edition if someone wants to do so. As long as I am credited as the author and that the the list of sound credits is included in the mod, feel free to re-release Sounds of Skyrim as you see fit. If you have questions on how I made the SOS patches to make it compatible with lighting mods and other cell-editing mods, let me know.
It has been a lot of fun working on the project, and I'll never forget the night when I went to sleep after releasing the Dungeons and having a hundred downloads and waking up the next day and seeing it in the thousands, growing every hour. What an excitement! I'll also never forget how Civilization brought pain and suffering as the infamous snoring corrupted your save games. It did help the modding community to learn more about how a simple scripting mistake can cause serious issues.
Sounds of Skyrim has been an adventure I'll never forget and I hope you, the players, will continue to keep interest in sound-related mods like the excellent Audio Overhaul Skyrim and Immersive Sounds (and others I'm sure I missed while I was away). I wish you the best in Skyrim!
By the way, this is not a goodbye from modding in general. I'm still working from time to time on my Oblivion projects.
I'm guessing you didn't read.. He is done modding this sadly. After losing everything he lost the will to keep doing this mod. So no nothing new well come from this mod, But you are more then welcome to do them yourself or find someone willing to do it cause as long as they give credit.
This mod isnt working for me for some reason. I've used it before on a separate playthrough years ago, so I know how to tell by the same sounds I should hear. But I dont hear any of them at all...
In Riften it's as quiet as ever. In the dungeons, I dont hear any screams or anything. Just silence. Same in the wilds except for some insects buzzing. Does anyone know a fix to this
Have been playing Skyrim without music which eventually made me pay attention to how ambient sounds kinda lack flavor. So I finally decided to try this mod and definitely haven't regretted it. It adds a tons of atmosphere. I especially love the Dungeons and the Wilds sounds. Some sudden screeches and rustling have even managed to give me a jump, especially since I play a pretty hardcore survival type of Skyrim. It's great how these new sounds are able to feed one's paranoia. Certain Civilization sounds, specifically taverns/inns, can be a bit "extreme" but that's not because of the mod itself but because of how unpopulated vanilla Skyrim is. There's nothing wrong with the sounds themselves but the contrast between what you hear and what you see can be a bit funny; like one patron sitting in the corner while it sounds there's a whole party going on. It's great though that the mod lets you decide which sounds to enable so it's not an issue at all.
If anyone's will to be a guinea pig I mean alpha tester, I've attempted to make an MCM for the combined version. I changed all the IDs in the MCM for the old three-ESP version of SoS to IDs from the new one-ESP version of SoS, and made that version the master. I'm 1/3 into a new STEP build of Skyrim, so I'm not able to directly alpha-test this myself yet. https://mega.nz/file/oRhQCR4L#zcYxGstRwErCU2sTWW72TlAbCSjwchAehwTlPO8sZmc
Wonderful mod that Ive been using for years now, however, after hearing the "burp" and some "cough" sounds a few times too many, I had to replace them with something else. But overall very nice mod, thank you.
This is pretty spiffy. As noted on the description page, there isn't an MCM menu yet... however, there is already an MCM menu created for the individual SOS files: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59412?tab=posts ... All that needs to be done is to change the requirements of this file from the individuals esps to the merged esp. Not sure how easy that is, but it's worth looking into.
[EDIT: Just realized someone already mentioned this...]
This mod, I swear to christ, makes me terrified of entering Dungeons. XD The noises in the background make me feel so tense and thats how I want to feel battling undead. It's amazing, thank you!
