Crocodiles are common aquatic reptilians of almost all the provinces of Tamriel, despite this, they are not a native species of Skyrim, since, like almost all the reptilians, they do not like cold places, specially cold waters.
More than a century ago, there was some Crocodile Leather Farm on the middle of the volcanic tundra of Eastmarch, since some people realized that this warm thermal waters would be a excelent place to breed crocodiles, since are allways warm, and imported some couples from Morrowind, to sell their leathers later. The business was good and increasing in size, but Eastmarsh allways had a very troublesome family of Giants, so one day they simply attacked the farm and made it fall completely destroyed, now its remains are known as Sulfur Ruins, in the middle of one of the volcanic lakes.
They destroyed all the fences around this big lake, and the crocodiles spread  themselves in all the volcanic lakes.
Now they are a plague, infesting all the water bodies of the volcanic tundra. Despite this, they are commonly passive and rarely will attack human, prefering to flee after attacked. But be aware, if one decide to attack you, the others will follow him in the attack.
You still can also kill them for Crocodile Leather, its a little heavier than regular pelts, but has a bigger price.
(i saw people complaining about why crocodiles there on video, well, questions are valid, but its also good to wait first to read my mods description, im not here to break your immersion and lore, remember that, when i put a thing in one place, i have a logic reason to do that.
The volcanic waters are not inhabitable, you will see mammoths calmly bathe themselves on this waters, also to goats and of course the popular hunters group on Hunter Jacuzzi Camp)
The other species is the giant Saltwater Crocodile, once common only on Morrowind  and Black Marsh coast, and that are now present on the warm waters of south solstheim. This south portion are now warmed by the eruption of Red Mountain, and the vvardenfell Saltwater Crocodiles migrated to there in order to find food.
They are big and really dangerous, and are close to the coast but in relatively deep sea.
If you manage to kill one, you will loot Saltwater Crocodile Leather, a very heavy but with great value crocodile leather.

As some of you already know, im quite absent from nexus cus i'm 
working a lot in a new morrowind island close do Mournhold and Necrom, almost the 
size of Solstheim, and for the part 2 of Shadows of Dagoth Ur saga. Also i will release soon 
a new up to the part 1 - The Corprusarium, so, i suggest you to wait for the new release 
of the corprusarium if you have not already played it, cus i will change several stuff. The 
part 2(island) will be ready in July, let me show you some pics of the landscape here, and
