About this mod

Small mod that makes it harder for your character to get rich.

Ever wondered why Skyrim's citizens spend their whole lives in poverty while the Dragonborn can earn enough gold to buy a house in an afternoon?

This mod attempts to resolve that paradox by making it so your character will be just as poor as everyone else.

Unlike most other 'hardcore economy' mods, this mod does not alter prices so that you'd end up spending 10000 gold on an iron dagger. It instead addresses the root of the problem: the player's unique ability to amass vast hoards of treasure and sell them all to Skyrim's gullible merchants.

FEATURES:

Standard version:

- Almost all merchants now have, by default, 0 gold available for buying your junk. Fences have 200 gold.

- All loot chests are empty.

Easier version (does not require the standard version):

- Almost all merchants have between 20 and 100 gold available. Fences have 200 gold.

- All loot chests are empty, except for boss chests.

Thieving is now the most lucrative career path, just like in real life. Speechcraft is also necessary if you want to get rich, as you'll need the 'investor' perk. Bounty quests, with a reward of a measly 150 gold, suddenly seem a lot more attractive. Finding gems lying on a table in some ancient ruin feels rewarding again, because you're not going to find them anywhere else.

NOTES:

- probably incompatible with mods that alter leveled lists for vanilla chests.
- some chests contain 1 unlootable gold coin. Don't ask me why.

Requires all DLC.
