I really want to do this for the realism it provides but it breaks the immersion when I equip the thing on my back and the handle is sticking out. Even if I only equip it when I mean to use it, adjusting the settings for it to appear on my belt affects my other battleaxes and warhammers. Can someone provide a workaround?
This works pefect for me as i want to make a character who is a hermit hunter with a lot of survival mods. I just have one question, is it compatible wih Skyrim Redone? (My survival mods are frostfall, campfire, ineed (used to have RND but i changed it so if i have a follower he eats too) hunterborn and hunting in skyrim)
Compatibility is a thing for any heavy overhauls or rework of weapon statistics. Common problems will be weapon never unsheath bug. If statistics aren't deeply changed with your mods setting, you can place this mode the lowest possible in your mod order to overide anything that could touch the .nif. Elseway I don't have any compatibility patch for this yet - working on another larger mod right now. But I will someday.
PS : Campfire could get hardly messed up with this mod I presume, didn't tried yet, I'm on Requiem campaign right now so maybe I'll do the first patch for this mod. The other ones shouldn't touch the axe and pickaxe so I suppose there shouldn't be any conflict with those.
Hey, I know I'm running a bit late, but I'm having a small issue with the wood-axe - it lists as a two-handed weapon but in first person, my character's wielding it with one hand. At the same time, when I switch to third person, the character's hands hold no axe, though the two-handed animation is there, the axe itself is attached to the back. Could this be a mod conflict of some kind?
Try to put the mod at the bottom of your load order - it shouldn't break anything anyway (unless you have a script relying on the default pickaxe and axe stats). That should overwrite any of your mod that is changing either the ".nif" or the item stats. Main problem with this solution : if your skyrim modded version needs stat balance tweaks, such as Requiem Skyrim or Enderal as examples, the balance tweaks will be overwritted by my version. I'll try to figure a way to overwrite those behaviours by default, and to upload some balance tweaks for those kind of mods.

Have you any mod that is changing the Woodcutter's Axe in anyway ?
Happen's with Requiem as example. When I'll have the time I'll try to make some compatibility updates.

Thanks for the advise.
