v1.0
- Initial Release

Description

A swarm of angry bees will attack you/NPCs whenever you activate or shoot down an inhabited beehive...unless it's night-time or stormy weather.
They will pursue you across all of Skyrim to exact their revenge, dealing 8 points of health damage per second. Low level characters beware. Poison resist would be helpful.

Fortunately there are many ways you can save yourself from their wrath.

  • Equip a torch
  • Cast any fire spell
  • Jump into the nearest body of water for temporary relief
  • Run into a cave or any other interior space
  • Hope for a thunderstorm or snowstorm (or make one of your own!)
  • Pray for nightfall

Attacking hives from a sufficient distance causes bees to randomly select the nearest unlucky NPC. And it doesn't stop there - the bees will jump onto the next target once the first one is dead or if the swarm was dispelled (up to 4 times). Warning - the bees can still attack you if it spreads.

NPCs will not just stand idly though - they will attempt to flee the swarm by escaping into an interior space or casting fire spells or equipping torches. As a last resort they will try to find nearby rivers and lakes to swim and stop the stinging. However milk drinkers and cowards will simply panic and run around in terror.

A new beehive mesh with better collision is available in the optional files - with this, it is much easier to shoot down hives with arrows and spells. Will conflict with any other beehive mesh replacers.

Weapons

Now you can craft or find weapons harnessing the power of bees - bottle of bees and beehives on sticks!

  • Bottle of Bees

  • Single use 'grenade' type weapon - equip and swing at nearest target. Bees will escape and sting a random target (player not included). Once the target is dead or the target has dispelled the swarm it will jump to the next target (up to 4 times). 33% chance to cause panic.
  • Can be crafted once the recipe has been learned. Recipe can be bought from apothecaries. It is also available in The Hag's Cure in Markarth.
  • To craft it you'll need glass bottles which can be bought from general goods merchants or crafted using Hearthfire glass.
  • A single Bottle of Bees can be looted from a table in one of the camps near Dragon Bridge Overlook.

2. Beehive on a Stick

  • Same as Bottle of Bees but bees will sting a single target for 30 seconds and the weapon is reusable. Target cannot be affected by multiple bee swarms.
  • Can be crafted if you have the Steel Smithing perk or can be looted off Forsworn who will use them against you.
  • A single Beehive on a Stick can be looted near a tree stump in Dragon Bridge Overlook.

3. Angry Beehive on a Stick.

  • Same as Beehive on a Stick except that the bees are more aggressive, dealing 12 points of damage and affecting multiple targets.
  • Requires more bees to craft compared to Beehive on a Stick. Can be found on boss type Forsworn.

Technical Notes

  • Mod supports up to 10 beehives per exterior cell but only one swarm may affect one target at once. Weapons can affect any number of targets.
  • The swarm is a particle mesh so some ENBs may cause the bees to be unnaturally bright in the shade or glow-in-the-dark.

Compatibility

Should be none.

Load this before any mods that affect or add new beehives.
