"They say their scales shone like gemstones."

This mod is inspired by media such as DnD, Dragonriders of Pern, Inheritance, Runescape and more to bring you the classic chromatic dragons - dragons of many different colors and varying strengths.

The mod contains ten completely new non-replacer dragon species.

  • Orange - start spawning at level 15 (weakest)
  • Green (4 color variants) - start spawning at level 15
  • Blue (4 color variants) - start spawning at level 20
  • Purple (3 color variants) - start spawning at level 25
  • Red (4 color variants) - start spawning at level 30
  • Bronze (2 color variants) - start spawning at level 35
  • Silver - start spawning at level 45
  • Gold (3 color variants)  - start spawning at level 40
  • Black / White - start spawning at level 45 (strongest)
All their textures are 4k x 2k, but there is a lower option in the files.

Many have different colored variants (after all, there are many shades of blue) but will still count as the same dragon species. They have varying levels of strength based off of color; derivatives such as their armors and dragonfires have different levels of strength correspondingly.

The dragons scale with the player up to level 150. Orange dragons are set to scale at 1.3x, so a level 60 character will face a level 78 orange dragon. The strongest dragons, the black dragons and white dragons, are set to scale at 1.6x, so a level 60 character will face a level 96 black or white dragon. I encountered a silver dragon on a level 80 test character while wearing dragonscale armor and had to use several max health potions to avoid dying in each blast of fire.

They're set to spawn with other dragons randomly; they'll start to spawn immediately for random dragon encounters, but for locations like Sheerpoint that generally have dragons hanging around, you'll need to defeat the dragon that's currently there before they'll start spawning in that set location.

Note that if you have other mods that add new dragons or edit the dragons leveled lists you'll need to use Wryebash.

The new dragons all have color-corresponding dragon fire breaths that also correspond with their respective strengths. Blue dragons will have blue fire breath, black dragons with have black fire breath, etc. These are much more powerful than vanilla fire breaths - if you get hit by one at a low level or health you're toast!

The exact colors of the dragonfire are based off of various colored fires that you can actually make using different chemicals.

Each dragon drops color-corresponding scales that can be crafted into armor. Very shiny armor, like them. They correspond to the strength of the dragon.
The armor can be crafted in light armor or heavy armor (both will be identical in appearance) and are enchantable and temperable.

If you don't want to use the scales for armor, you can turn them into powerful alchemical ingredients. The first three properties for each powder are the same, but the fourth one is unique to its color.

You have a 10% chance of finding a fire ember on a dragon (corresponding to their color). Consuming it grants you the ability to use a dragon fire spell equal to that the dragons use. You can finally fight an Agni Kai with a dragon!

Thanks to opusGlass for help getting the dragons to work!
