What Is This?

This is a mod that will allow you to save objects that you have placed at a location with Campfire to a file which can be loaded into another game. This may not seem like much with just Campfire by itself, but when you consider the variety of objects offered by mods such as Tentapalooza and Hearth Craft then there is potential for creating rather sophisticated campsites and player homes that can be saved and loaded into other games. Potential uses of this include:

  • Save campsites that may disappear due to cell refresh if you don't visit them for a long time.
  • Setup your own player base that can be used across multiple saves without having to manually place objects every time you start a new game.
  • Create player homes that can be shared with other people without the need of using the Creation Kit.

How To Use

When you install this there will be an MCM menu where you can save a load campsite files. By default campsite files will be located under "My Games\Skyrim\Campsites" under your documents folder in Windows, but you can change the location for this inside the MCM menu. There are a couple of ways to select objects to be saved in a campsite file. The first is a button in the MCM that will add all Campfire objects in the current cell. If your campsite crosses cell boundaries in an exterior area you may have to move around and do this a couple of times. The other method is to configure a hotkey that will add and remove specific objects in your crosshair. Objects to be saved will be listed in the MCM menu. Once you are satisfied with the list of objects to save, simply click the save option and specify the name of the file you want to save to.

Loading a campsite is simply a matter of copying the file into the campsite folder on your system and the MCM menu will display it in the list of files. Simply click on the name of the file and all of the objects in that file will be loaded into your game. If the file requires assets from other mods which you don't have in your game you will be shown a message telling you which plugins you need. People who share campsite files should mention the requirements if assets from things other than Campfire are used. Also let people know where the campsite is in Skyrim since they will be placed at the same location they were saved at and can't be moved around.

Known Issues

  • Objects placed from campsite files will not be added to your inventory when you pick them up. I don't consider this a big deal since you can always use AddItemMenu to get another copy of that item.
  • Campfire was never intended to place lots of objects at the same time. Because of this objects are only placed one at a time so it may take a while for everything to show up if there are a lot of objects to load.

Permission

You can feel free to make translations, upload this to other sites, and generally share this with anyone you like without asking for permission so long as you don't try and make any money from this mod. I only ask that you make sure to give me credit for this work. You do not have permission to port this to Special Edition as this relies heavily on SKSE and I don't want to deal with complaints people may make about this not working due to the differences between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of SKSE that someone else did not compensate for. You also do not have permission to use any part of this mod in your own mods without asking for permission first.
