About this mod

The large Bolgans are a brutish ancient race easily identified by their red skin and the heavy dwarven weapons and armor they carry. They once lived throughout Skyrim, but when the Nords arrived with a thirst for conquest, the Bolgans were decimated and nearly extinct. The Dwemer saved them, in exchange for their services as brute force on war.

"The large Bolgans are a brutish ancient race easily identified by their red skin and the heavy dwarven weapons and armor they carry. They once lived across all the province of Skyrim, coexisting with the Snow Elves and the Dwemer in relative peace, but when the Atmorans arrived on Tamriel with thirst for conquest, the Bolgans were decimated and almost extinct. The Dwemer, the only ones capable to stand up against the Nords, in part because they lived in completely different locations and had much different interests, offered to the Bolgans help and protection, pretty much in the same fashion of what they've done to the Snow Elves, but in the Bolgan's case with the intention to use them as living tanks in the battlefront, because their great physical raw power.

Once common in all the province, herding their boars, boars that they used in savage fights (one of their principal cultural traditions), now only few Bolgans can be seen prowling the entrances of some Dwarven ruins, using some of the equipments given to their people by the Dwemer ages ago. Nord legends tell that a Bolgan can defeat a Dwarven Centurion if he wants to, suffering almost no damage, with a skin thick enough to endure a centurion's dangerous steam attacks.

In the ancient times Bolgans were relatively broad-minded with the other races, but in the current era they became extremely violent and will kill everyone who crosses their paths, or approaches their camps. Despite this, some Bolgans, generaly the ones addicted to alcohol, have accepted to work as mercenaries and body guards to some bandit leaders or wizards, some also can be found protecting the exits of Cidhna Mine, at the service of the Jarl of Markarth. But, in general, Bolgans are seen by the other races just as fierce and heartless thugs, almost non-sentient beasts, much worse than Giants and comparable to Ogres or even Trolls, a reputation their conduct does not help to dissipate.

5 variants of Bolgans were documented by scholars
, and apparently they are linked solely and simply to their roles in the tribe:

Bolgan Thug- its the weakest of the 5 known types, and generally addicted to wine, beer and mead. Because that, they are frequentely wired as mercenaries and guards for bandit camps, in exchange of a couple bottles of wine or a barrel of mead. They are the ruffiest ones of them all. This variant wields a sword and commonly charges furiously at you wielding it. On combat, he bashes his enemies with their small round shields as well;

Bolgan Butcher- this variant is the one that prepares the food in the Bolgan camps, and makes the traps to ambush prey, sometimes even stealing it from farms, and generaly they carry on their shoulders dead animals and buckets of visceras that they hunt and/or collect. Not very used to combat, this apathetic beasts are slow due to the amount of things they carry. In the past they worked as executioners for the Dwemer, and they still wield the axes they used for that function;

Bolgan Charger- maybe the strongest variant among the tribe, they were used to charge against the enemy battlefront like a cannon ball, defeating immediatelly dozens of soldiers. They're trained to attack with no fear, with their big helmets covering their eyes what makes them charge againts the enemy line while totally blinded, like an frenzied angry bull. Some speculate that this variant is actually blind and was originally blinded by their Dwemer masters, and nowadays the current chargers are blinded by the leaders of their groups as part of a ritualistic culture, based on their past as servants of the deep-elves, or maybe this variant already gives birth to a mutated blind folk, like what happens with the Falmer. One of their arms holds a giant mace covered of spikes, that deals immense damage during their unstoppable charges;

Bolgan Beastmaster- slow as the Butchers, however they carry two powerful weapons, a large double spiked mace in one hand, and a heavy blade embedded in the left gauntlet. They are also responsible for creating and training their combat boars, which makes them even more dangerous, due to the support given by the ferocious pigs;

Bolgan Tanker- trained to protect the dwemer soldiers on the battlefield, this Bolgans carry a huge dwarven tower shield, and have the biggest physicall endurance of all the variants, for being the best armored of them all. Like most of them, they are very slow, and wield giant warhammers to crush their enemies, while protecting their companions with their shields, and the impact of the shield alone may throw enemies into the ground immediately. They act as militar leaders amongst the Bolgans, alongside the Beastmasters that are more of a spiritual figure of power."
