Skyrim Special Edition Version

This is the most comprehensive, standalone children overhaul mod available. I'm guessing from how the
kids were implemented in Skyrim that Bethesda either 1) did NOT want to
include children and were forced into it by popular demand, or 2) they
just hate kids. As evidence, take a look at the meshes. They are built
in the identical fashion as the monsters and beasts in the game. Small
wonder they look like clones - they ARE clones. The goal for this mod
was to make children that look like they would belong in a modern DX11
or 12 game, by pushing the boundaries within this old game engine.

Standalone children replacer mod - all children and clothing replaced, nothing else needed
Custom Racemenu face sculpts (sculpting tools were used, these are not from moving a few sliders around)
Custom (nevernude) doll-style body meshes and textures
Custom clothing reflecting the status of the children (Common x 5, Fine, Blacksmith, Merchant, Miner, Skaal)
USSEP fixes incorporated
Fixes errors in base children NPC records not covered by USSEP
Form 44 esp, cleaned with SSEEdit, no ITMs, errors or base form deletes of
any kind, files are archived to minimize the mod footprint.
No potatoes

The Mod comes in three four flavors

Default children and clothes replacer ONLY

The battles in Skyrim have caused plenty of suffering, and was particularly
hard on the children. The orphanage in Riften is overflowing. But the
citizens of Skyrim have opened up their homes to orphaned children until
they can find a permanent adopted home. Will you be a kind and loving
adopted parent, or will you be an evil Count Olaf, after them for their
(in some cases substantial) inheritance?

- Includes everything in Episode One
- Adds over 20 new children for you to discover in Skyrim
- New children have distinct daily routines through multiple ai packages per child
- New children races added (Boy/Girl - Dark Elf, High Elf, Wood Elf, Snow Elf, Orc, Khajiit, Argonian)
- Additional funny "Easter egg" children hidden away (it wouldn't be a TTR mod without them, would it?)
- Children are integrated into the game in various locations where it makes sense
- Additional new clothing and armor that reflects the status and location of the children
- Stylishly dressed new girl vendor in Solitude that sells exclusively children items

Includes all of the above Episodes. Ever notice how there are all these factions
that have no method of reproducing themselves? They just spawn in
replacements endlessly. Now you will see the missing bad kids of Skyrim -
Forsworn, Bandits, Vampires, Witches, and Warlocks, with new armors and
clothes. And they hate you, just like their parents. This game is all
about difficult moral choices, now you have a new one to deal with.

Also features new non-hostile wild encounters, runaway kids that are hunters
and traders. The displaced farm family after a dragon attack has a
child to worry about now.

Note: for those squeamish about child mortality in this version, it's optional, the default download (The Kids
ARE Alright) makes ALL children immortal. Plus the bad kids are set to

What This Update Does

All of the above PLUS: Adds FULLY voiced child follower dialogue.  Once
adopted, your children have a new dialogue choice added - Follow Me, I
Need Your Help. Note - to have kids that will fight for and with you,
you need to uncheck the "child" flag in their race record. All child
follower mods, and any of the killable/immersive kids mods do this for
you. But then you get some game issues that are well documented
elsewhere. So to deal with those issues I've done the following:

  • Remove the race to scale keyword, so no more stretching and shrinking NPCs
  • Children will now use Hearthfires idles and sit in furniture correctly WITHOUT the child flag being set
  • Adds a new keyword specific to the new and existing child races

Adds new Hearthfires giftable clothing, and the adopted kids will
automatically wear what you give them. The clothing is available in
Solitude, from either Radiant Rainment or from Lillian, the girl at the
Solitude market stalls. Child clothing is under miscellaneous items with
vendors, not apparel.

Adds most of the game armors sized for children. Available from a new child vendor that lives at Warmaidens
(select child armors like any other armor). When your kid is in follower
mode, they will auto equip the best armor you give them, like any other
follower. When you dismiss them, they will usually change back to their
clothes when you leave the cell you dismissed them at.

Old Versions

The Episode Two and Three versions are deprecated and now NOT recommended,
as they have new outfits added, but don't have the outfit management
built into The Director's Cut. I just didn't understand how it worked
when I made those. Adding that back in to those earlier versions is just
too difficult.

Latest Version

The follower ability gets added when you get force greeted by your child AFTER adoption. If you
run around and adopt a bunch of kids without meeting them at home
individually FIRST, the Hearthfires scripting can get out of sync and
you might not get the dialogue on one or more of the children, and thus
they won't follow you. Can't be fixed, go back to an earlier save or use
console commands. I provide an optional console command batch file in
the download section for your convenience.

The Hearthfires scripting is glitchy in the base game, and occasionally a kid will get
stuck at the location you adopted them at and won't immediately go to
the new home. If they don't show up, go back to where you left them and
talk to them again. They then will go to their new home.

Hearthfire Multiple Adoption needs a patch. Look in the optional files section.
Tested and verified with 6 kids. Load order used was TKAA, Multikid mod,
TKAA Patch. The kids take their time getting to the new home - be
Any mod that modifies RelationshipAdoption_FGInitialTopic or the script byohrelationshipadoptionchildscript.pex will also need a
Compatible with USSEP.
The Director's Cut includes a full child follower voice resource, which was built by me, and is much more
extensive than mods like Relationship Dialogue Overhaul and Follower
Commentary Overhaul. It can be used with those mods though, with some
adjustments. See the sticky post in the comments for more information.
Kill a kid mods will clash.

I highly recommend using NMM. This mod should be low in your load order,
and after mods that modify children, or you risk getting dark heads.
There are any number of mods out there that will overwrite the children
and cause issues. There are also some mods that alter the children
clothing like I do, try moving load order.

Note: Everything is packed in the Bethesda Archive format (bsa). IF YOU INSTALL OTHER MODS
ISSUES, INCLUDING CTD. I supply as an option the loose facegen files if
you need a solution for this.
