I have an issue with the mod I can't seem to make a new profile on the TESVSGM software. The temporary fix I did was just make up the folder seperately. I use NMM, not MO.
I have this somewhat working, MO executable as playbutton executable and skse_launcher.exe with full path as play button parameter. Skyrim loads with my active MO profile, when I select the character profile in SSM (Skyrim Save Manager) and press Play. ...BUT... No game saves in-game to select, no CONTINUE, no LOAD, just NEW. SSM has the saves in its active profile folder, which the game doesn't seem to be finding.
I have the "normal" Skyrim. I don't have the SLocalSavePath line in the MO Skyrim.ini files. There is a Skyrim.ini file with that line in, in the "M:\documents\My Games\Skyrim" folder. For my current MO profile, my Skyrim.ini is located in "S:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\profiles\Not the Dragonborn_Fighter\Skyrim.ini" It looks like different MO Profiles use different Skyrim.ini files, so I'll have to add this to each Skyrim.ini file? SSM is saving the saves to "M:\documents\My Games\Skyrim\TESVSGM\charactername\saves"
1. I deleted the Skyrim.ini files in each of the MO profiles folders. 2. I selected a profile in MO, then exited MO. 3. I opened SSM and selected the character linked to the active MO profile. 4. Clicked PLAY (a new updated Skyrim.ini is created in the MO profile folder).
Works. Thanks for the help askedal - and I hope this may help others.
But is it working when you change the profile in the SSM, is the skyrim.ini changed in the MO profile directory as well ? Or is then the default skyrim.ini file changed (in mydocuments) ?
I can add an option to specify the ini file to update, so that you can point it to the MO profile directory. This will then ensure that the correct ini file is changed.
I just switched to MO recently after years of using NMM. If you could add the future to select which ini file is updated when switching character profiles into your next update that'd be great! Thanks awesome tool!
I just uploaded the version 2.5 Beta for you to test. It includes SE support (different paths etc.) and custom ini support for MO user. I would be nice if you can test this version and provide some feedback (especially as I don't use SE and MO).
Tested v2.5beta with MO. So far it's working perfectly. After selecting the skyrim ini on each of my character profiles. I can switch between them and your tool edits the ini as intended. This works perfectly with MO because i can use MO's profile system for different mod profile sets without making a mess of the Data folder then use this tool for different character profiles within each mod set. Thanks a lot!
Reporting that REALstroztek's method worked for me too! Another step I had to take was clearing the "Read Only" tag from Skyrim.ini. That fixed profile switching for me.
I've ran into a little problem though: playing on a PC with Language set on Italian, your tool tries to find a corresponding Italian language file, and failing to do so it opens the the main window without any writing on it. I had to change the language in the INI file to English_United_States to be able to use it.
All my saves are gone now. Nothing in MO2 at all. I launch the game from MO2 and no saves. No auto saves even.
I can see the screenshots of the latest saves in this save game manager and it's telling me how many saves I have at the bottom but I can't do anything. I really don't want to launch my game from this utility.
Ok after poking around and doing some more reading I found my saves.
This utility looks cool. Just got to make sure I back up my saves before I play around too much. Thanks
What I did : - Set the ModOrganizer.exe path in "Options/Program/Play Button Link" - Set the SKSE_loader.exe path in "Play Button Parameter" - Create a new profile - Set the Skyrim.ini path of my Mod Organizer profile (in the Options tab of this Save Manager).
The problem is that I'm not sure what I did is good and when I try to load my save after starting the game from your Save Manager, the loading screen is neverending. Whereas if I start the game from Mod Organizer I can load my save.
Edit: After some work I've gone through and sorted out what happened.
Some confusion about how this works and how it groups saves along with a mistake of my own caused me to delete all my saves. I had several different sets of profiles (the same name among all the sets). I was trying to delete some saves from a set but since all saves with the same profile name were together, the tool erased all of them.
This was compounded by another misunderstanding... that the save folder used by this tool is different from skyrim's regular save folder. I performed a full backup of the skyrim save folder before performing the delete operation, but it was too late. My saves had been moved out of that folder already and so the backup only contained cosaves from SKSE.
Ultimately this is my fault, but given how important saves can be I think this tool is not explained clearly enough and is not safe enough.
Before I use any kind of save manager I would want to see the following:
1. Automatic backups. Don't make the user manually run backup, instead perform them automatically. 2. Backups and possibly saves themselves should not just be deleted. Instead move files into the windows recycle bin. This act of making the user open another program to 100% get rid of files helps guarantee they understand what they're doing. 3. Add support for Skyrim script extender. This tool moved all the skyrim save files but left all the cosave files breaking quite a few mods that relied on the script extender.
I can't imagine how this could happen, in the routine for new profiles there is no delete statement anywhere. Even if they have the same player name then they should end up in the same directory. And as the filenames are all unique they will not override each other. Have you checked all the other subdirectories for the files ? And the main directory as well ? How many playernames do you have now in the dropdown field ?
I tried using this but the program can't find anything, even its own help document. Even though I've specified any and every possible executable it could possibly use to open the game, it claims the executable is "not found"...

do you have SkyrimSE or the "normal" one ?
SkyrimSE seems to behaves a little bit different and is currently not supported. But we can try to fix it.
In your skyrim.ini file under [General] you need a line like this
[General]
SLocalSavePath=TESVSGM\YourProfileNameHere\
which should point to your SSM savegame folder.
Do you have this line ?
Where is your skyrim.ini located ?
%MyDocuments%\My Games\Skyrim\Skyrim.ini
Or is it somewhere else ?
I have the "normal" Skyrim.
I don't have the SLocalSavePath line in the MO Skyrim.ini files.
There is a Skyrim.ini file with that line in, in the "M:\documents\My Games\Skyrim" folder.
For my current MO profile, my Skyrim.ini is located in "S:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\profiles\Not the Dragonborn_Fighter\Skyrim.ini"
It looks like different MO Profiles use different Skyrim.ini files, so I'll have to add this to each Skyrim.ini file?
SSM is saving the saves to "M:\documents\My Games\Skyrim\TESVSGM\charactername\saves"

if you increase the "maximum files to save" option to e.g. 999 it will keep 999 files before it starts to cleanup.

A long time later, I add that there is no cleaning if you don't click on the Cleanup button or if you don't ask for a backup of your profiles.

I can't make this work with Mod Organizer.
What I did :
- Set the ModOrganizer.exe path in "Options/Program/Play Button Link"

So please tell me what did I do wrong ? :)

I just releases version 2.9. It deletes in the recycle bin and the skse file handling was fixed.

Can you unpack it one by one to see which file is the one that McAfee is complaining about ?
I uploaded an optional file which is not compressed by the compiler, can you try this one ?

**EDIT***
Works perfectly, Thanks again.
