About this mod

Rebalances the Enderal combat and perk tree to make mage/warrior/rogue/unarmed combat equalized in power. Intended to be used with Wildcat (load this after) to make use of its combat styles.
Features:
Open Hand Monk

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Monk update is OUT! Inside the Blade Dancer and Vagrant memories you will find the Way of the Open Hand Monk's memories. Unlock all of the basic Monk memories in the Blade Dancer memory stone to gain access to the more powerful memories inside of the Vagrant memory stone.

*****2.6 now requires you to make a new game unless you have never taken a warrior perk. Do not update from 2.5.4 if not starting a new game. Also, Qyranian Stance is possibly broken if not using Bug Fixes as it and the other stance are bugged in vanilla Enderal. I strongly recommend the Enderal - Bug Fixes mod i have linked at bottom of page and the compatibility patch included in this mod.*****

BUG NOTE: (spoiler if you don't have Quivering Palm)

Ki strikes is acting weird. Try not to use left hand power attacks (which are garbage anyway) because it can break Ki strikes (I don't even know how, unarmed is just terribly implemented in Skyrim) so reload an old save to get back Ki strikes if it ever breaks. You'll know it's broken when the animation doesn't play when attacking with Open Hand. If people are encountering this bug frequently please let me know and I will change Ki strikes implementation (likely will have to make it a cloak effect script and I will probably revert Quivering Palm back to a cloak effect script too, to maintain consistency).

Mini (monk) FAQ:

Q: Do I need to use a weapon for Monk combat? Where can I get another when/if I lose it?
A: Yes. You get it after leveling Unarmed Training and you can craft more at the forge if you lose it. If you drop it don't bother looking, it's gone forever.

Q: I can't select this Monk skill!!??
A: That's because you lack the prerequisites. You need to unlock all of the basic monk abilities to access the 3 level monk talent.

Q: I don't lack the prerequisites, and I was only able to get the first memory of the 3 level memory.
A: :< Just keep clicking the perk and trying to add it. It's a piece of junk. For some reason looking away and then looking back and retrying will eventually work. It never takes more than 30 seconds of trying to get it to give up the memory for me (I tested about 50 times) so retrying will work ... eventually.

Q: Does Monk care about one-handed skill level?
A: Not for his damage. Only the Monk perks and raising your unarmed damage will help Open Hand damage

Q: I'm level 8 and feel super weak.
A: Great question! Monks are just a weak early game class. By 16, if you only go for Monk memories, you'll be able to have all of them unlocked. You'll get a nice bonus then that will make everyone your bitch.

Q: Oh wow, I'm level 50 and monk is overpowered.
A: ....well yeah. It's a level based class. You'll probably be pretty strong as soon as you hit 16, honestly. The main drawback to monk is your inability to block. (Gameplay is better if you have a dodge mod installed but NOT an unarmed blocking mod installed, which probably requires dawnguard anyway IIRC)

Note: You will NEED the Focus perk to get a reasonable mana regen level.

The Big Changes (non-Monk):
-weakened most magic perks and base mana/stamina regen while increasing mana/stamina regen in combat
-changed stat distribution on level up: 3hp and 7mp or 6hp and 8sp
-raised cooldown and outright nerfed the most overpowered talents (a couple got buffs)
-raised melee/bow power substantially
-increased heavy armor's strengths and lowered ability to max out armor with light armor
-armor/weapon/alchemy skill level matters more
-helmets NEVER required for perks
-dual casting is more cost effective
-added perk for sneak spells. must be completely out of combat (no red dots on compass) and sneaking and does not show up as a sneak attack
-backwards/sideways movement and rotational speed lowered for most AI
-sneaking is more difficult
-made entropic damaging spells viable
-made alchemy much stronger
-summons cost more and last half as long
-made stamina at least kind of important for melee fighters
-kinda forgot to mention this in v1.0... you can have 2 summons with the Master tier perk and soul trap was removed from bound weapons
-bound weapons damaged reduced

Have this mod overwrite Wildcat/other combat/movement tweak files as many of the changes overlap and this mod is specifically targeted towards Enderal. Really just put this mod below Wildcat and Enderal Bug Fixes and you should be fine.

Recommended mods to combine with this for Enderal (most recommended first):
Wildcat - Download the no DLC version
Enderal Optimized Textures
Enderal Bug Fixes - if you think my modified gameplay is too easy then download his Gameplay Overhaul mod instead (and then get Athletik Combat on top of that)
Enderal Sorted Item Names
Missing Tempering Recipes for Enderal
Enderal Skill Book Value Rebalance
Proper Torch Wield

Show
1.1 perk description fix
1.2 bound weapon damage down and more description fixes
1.3 (omitted)
1.4 ammo damage up, ai block chance down, armor scaling increased
1.5 covered all races with lowered rotation speed
1.5.1 changed leveling from 3 options to two: 1. + 7 mana and 3 health 2. + 8 Stamina and 6 Health. Done so that health can't be taken directly (it's clearly the best stat) and, to make sure mana isn't the default stat that everyone will take after the health removal, I doubled the health gain for leveling up stamina.
1.5.2 buffed armor values; I used the wrong multiplier when i went through all the armor values in 1.0, seriously dont let your combat mod overwrite this mod
1.5.3 fixed a couple of the base game perks/spells that weren't working correctly and increased compatibility with Enderal - Bug fixes, still load this mod after
1.6 warrior/rogue talents buffed and a some base game bug fixes
1.6.1 warrior perk changes and helmets not needed for full armor perks
1.6.2 i am 99% sure sneaky spells work now. eldritch/shock spells only, must be sneaking/undetected/out of combat and will NOT show sneak attack message. sneaky casters dont kiss and tell. leave it to the dagger guys to brag about their x4 damage (i didn't even need a script huehuehue)
*1.5 is the last update that doesn't change the level up script and is no longer recommended since 1.5.3*
2.0 added monk, moved/replaced a couple of skills with too much synergy with monk or that i had to replace and recombine in other places to make room for monk memories
2.1 scripts (apparently) hated initial weapon name and it wasn't adding to player (on 2.0 had to use forge to get Open Hand), fixed so that weapon adds on unarmed training skill up if you haven't crafted it yet
2.2 I don't know how I named the bsa wrong in the first place. zz rename it if you have 2.0 and scripts aren't running
2.3 nothing really. ._.;;;;;
2.4 made compatibility patches for bug fixes and more affinities. Qyrai Warcry is completely busted with Open Hand without this patch.
2.5 i meant without this patch. yeah...
2.5.4 now we're talking. friggin patches, honestly it's still broken but it has nothing to do with my mod (qyrai warcry that is)... I'm probably just gonna fix all the attack speeds in the game at once soonish
2.6 okay finally fixed all the attack speeds. in process of readjusting movement speeds, will update when at healthy punishment/reward/responsiveness level. Some movement speed changes have gone through with 2.6
also reincreased stamina damage recovery time to make stamina actually drain correctly. it was acting weird at too low of a level.

Credits:
Athletik Combat (Megaloblast). I tested these movement modifiers alongside a couple other mods and went with this general direction on ratio of movespeed between forward/side/back and rotations then expanded on them so they would work for (most) Enderal NPCs. If you like the movement tweaks in this mod then you should download Athletik for when you play vanilla Skyrim (I have since done further changes to movement/rotational speed and it no longer resembles athletik very much)

Install/Uninstall
2.6+ needs a new game and cannot be updated to from 2.5.4 if you have any warrior memories unlocked (and ofc you do have them unlocked) Don't use 2.6's compatibility patches either if you're using 2.5.4

activate the compatibility patches if you use the mod the patch is for

You will need a new game for some race changes so I can't really recommend not using a new save but it will PROBABLY work on an old save. Don't expect perks you've already picked to change though.

The scripts are in the bsa, so just place the esp and bsa in data or you can unpack the bsa with BSAopt and throw them in the scripts folder if you really want / you just wanna look at the code / you downloaded 2.0 and the scripts dont seem to be running (T_T). It wont do anything without the esp on and since none of them overwrite Enderal scripts, you can just leave them in forever.
