V 2.3 Released (and 2.4 for Silky Hair Version)!

    What's New?
    ***************

Re-made decoration that shows up in Khajiit hairstyles. I honestly hadn't tested it out when I made it, and just went with something that vaguely resembled vanilla (I actually wasn't sure where that texture even mapped onto). Turns out it maps onto something that looks like a fang, or a piece of polished bone, so I made a custom texture to reflect that.

I also punched up the brass "hammered metal" texture for the rings to a slightly more HD look (about 25% more detail). Also revised the normal map so it's just a tiny bit more fine definition, and less shine. Enjoy!

    Silky Version Released!

    *****
    - A lighter, less defined variant is now available. It looks slightly more silky and rough, and you'll have an easier time at getting to ultra-blonde tones. The downsides is that the lack of definition shows the limitations of vanilla mesh. I had this version on hand, and thought someone might like it.

It comes with standard brown fabric. Use Gimp/photoshop to copy paste the fabric color of your choice onto the silky variant.

    V 2.2 released.

This is a pretty small update, but maybe someone will enjoy it. I wasn't quite happy with the braid, so I re-made it from scratch. Each interlocked hair is about half the size, which matches the vanilla style a bit better.

I also made a new normal map to enhance the fine details, and also reduced the shine with about 1/3. I have already uploaded an ultra matte normal map as an optional file for ENB users (one ENB user told me it's a frequent problem with hair being overly shiny), but hopefully the default download will now work a bit better across the board.

Awhile back I was looking for something that retextured the imperial metal, found your texture, top notch work (2k looks 4k quality). Somehow I missed this, but insta download. Seriously good texture skills.

I'm only sad that Vanilla Hair Variety Plus doesn't use default vanilla hair. D=

As per that mod's forum thread, you can replace the custom VHV+ textures with these ones by manually re-naming a copy of Bed Head textures to whatever name VHV+ uses, and putting them in the folder that that mod is using.

Either do that, or see if an older version of that mod exists that does not use custom textures. I think I have an old version of this mod back when it just added new hair meshes.

It's an odd decision for the author; would be better to make a new vanilla hair replacement mod instead of piggy-backing on a mod that expands hair-shape-options.

Haven't noticed that, thank you. =D
ps.: (indeed, by moving the directory with nifskope, did fix that)

any chance of upping the res on the older people hair textures (and imperial tullius hair)(perhaps as an optional file)?? The older male textures are what i'm referring to(females don't really have the balding hairs)
love the updates btw, khajiit fan #1

Some of the hairstyles shown in the pictures are unused in the vanilla game, meaning you had to enable them first. Could I ask you how you did this?

You probably have only half the endorsement you deserve for your mods Thank you for this retexture, vanilla hair always looked weird to me, this made them much more likeable .

best vanilla hair texture out their
I did just wanted to mention that the hair does seem a but shiny with enbs, is there any way to have this reduced?(ive been using superior lore friedly hair textures with reduced shine option till now so i believe this is a common issue with enb and hair textures)

You can go into each individual mesh if you want and turn down the amount of shine. Another way to do it is to open up the normal map (hairlong_n for that the main part) and cut the transparency in half, or perhaps even to just 5 percent.

It is already pulled down to about 15 percent to give it a matte look. You can also, if you are comfortable with the process, make your own normal map in Gimp/Photoshop from my longhair texture. I think I put it at around "5" as scale, with a "4 sample" filter to get the fine detailing.

OR, if you don't know how to do that, just uploaded a softer normal map as an optional file to all 4 main textures. Let it overwrite the standard file.

It's a 4 sample filter, with a 2 scale, and reduced to 3%, of its original transparency, so it's just barely there. Let me know, preferably with some before and after images, if it works out. I don't do ENB stuff, so I can't really judge it from my end.

      I would say its solved
,tried now with two enbs (rudy vanilla and nla) and hair looks great on both(and both are on the brighter side so should be fine with other enb presets imo)
these textures for hair, rustic clothing, amidian born armors/weapons, beards/brows, a nice eye mod(I recommend linds) and skin textures(I like mature skin for females and skysights for males) and bam 2017 npcs !!
its mod makers like you that allow skyrim to look up to date/be alive even in 2017 so thank you

    Hello,

The new hair band looks really good, thank you for the update!

I afraid I have encountered with one possible bug, however.
Since updated to 2.0, some NPCs those who have HairFemaleNord14 suffer from curious 'remnant' of hair on her forehead, as shown below:
    - Olfina Gray-Mane: http://imgur.com/Wh6kK3O
    - Ahram: http://imgur.com/BUX340x
    - Ahram with vanilla hair texture (for comparison): http://imgur.com/97VYpbl

As far as I know, no other hair mod overwrite the hair mesh/texture of this hair in my mod list......

Correct. This was due to me trying to make the stubby pony-tails from orcs look a bit better by adding a patch of hair where the mesh points to. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that nordhair14, for some reason, also points to this otherwise empty area.

Version 2.1 is up for all textures, and this has be fixed across the board.
