About this mod

The Ebony Spellbreaker allows the player to reforge Spellbreaker into an ebony shield at a smiting forge or an anvil in Skyrim.

Permissions and credits
The Ebony Spellbreaker allows the player to reforge Spellbreaker into an ebony shield at a smiting forge or an anvil in Skyrim.   You need Spellbreaker in your inventory for this option to be available and the process requires four ebony ingots.  Once Spellbreaker is reforged, it will have the same stats as the original but will look like an ebony shield and it has the ebony keyword, so it can be smithed twice as good with the ebony smiting perk (and Arcane Blacksmithing), and you need ebony ingots to temper it.  No smithing perks are needed to reforge Spellbreaker into the ebony Spellbreaker (or to reforge it back into its original form). All you need is Spellbreaker in your inventory and four ebony ingots.

You can change Spellbreaker back into its original Dwemer form at any time at a smithing forge or anvil but you need four dwarven ingots to do so.  When Spellbreaker is in its original form, it can be tempered with a dwarven ingot and can be smithed twice as good with the dwarven smiting perk (and Arcane Blacksmithing).

The shield will lose any tempering bonus when you switch but can be retempered again afterwards. You can switch it back and forth as often as you like.

There are other mods on the Nexus that alter Spellbreaker in various ways, but the other mods are somewhat complex and take a different approach to the issue, and I wanted something simpler.  This was made at the request of a poster on the Bethesda forum who wants it on console.  I plan to release this on SSE for console soon, but thought I would offer it here to PC users in case anyone wanted a simple mod to make Spellbreaker into an ebony shield.

There may be compatibility issues if you run this with another mod that alters Spellbreaker, but it should be totally compatible with anything else.  Please let me know if you run into any issues.
