Consult the documentation. Read the FAQ (if there is one) and compatibility notes in the mod description, as well as the readme (Docs tab) and the bug list (for LE mods, the bug list is on the corresponding SSE page to reduce duplication).
Install the correct version. Make sure you download the LE version (/skyrim/) if you are using LE, and the SSE version (/skyrimspecialedition/) if you are using SSE. If the other version is available, the mod page contains a link to it. Not all mods are available for both versions.
Check for conflicts. Check if there is another mod loaded after this mod that may override it and revert its changes. Some mods come with loose files that end up in your data folder, override other mods regardless of what order they are in, and may stick around after you uninstall them.
Make sure you have the latest version. Please do not report bugs that are already fixed.
Empirically, the above is more likely than not to solve your issue. Keep in mind that this mod is used by thousands of players without major issues, so if "the mod doesn't work" or "the mod is completely broken", the issue would likely be on your end and not actually a bug with the mod.
Validated bug reports and feedback are welcome on the above subreddit.
Hi, is this mod’s .esp safe to uninstall? I installed an updated version of Enhanced Blood Textures that contains the current Modern Brawl Bug Fix so I want to save the extra .esp slot
Is it ok to just unpack the 'scripts' folder in the BSA file into the 'scripts' folder in the 'data' directory? If these are modified vanilla scripts, this would bipass the need for the plugin wouldn't it?
This is more of a request, idea floatation or general moddability question, that may or may not involve Modern Brawl Bug fix at all.
Since most PC to NPC brawls result in an upgrade of the PC's relationshiprank to the brawled NPC, there is one I think that doesn't fit the picture, and that is Rolff Stone-Fist. He seems more to be a type that would be a sore loser, and his ending response does seem to bear it out. So it would be much more appropriate for the relationshiprank state to change from acquaintance 0 to rival -1. But as I'm inexperienced in scripting and I'm unsure whether it's the brawl script that is in question that makes the relationshiprank change, I'd like some help and perspective on this.
I've been encountering a problem with using a custom race and starting a brawl. Due to using the Zebsirious Snow Elf that has a built in effect similar to ebony mail, every time I get into a brawl I immediately get a bounty. I thought this mod would have fixed this but even with moving it around in my load order, it hasn't worked.
This is not a cheat mod. The fact that NPCs accuse you of using magic when you are in fact using magic is working as intended. Report this as a bug to the author of that mod.
I know quite some time has passed from my first post but between shifting schedules and troubleshooting, I've found that it isn't just that custom race, but flat out brawls in general. Brawls outside of the Companions starting quest with Vilkas all spawn the bug where they draw their weapons. This includes vanilla races in newer saves. I've done everything from going through my load order, checking file integrity, making fresh ini files, manually installing this mod's files to make sure they're not being overwritten., making fresh saves, disabling all mods that give magic effects, stripping naked to make sure it isn't custom armor, and using the "dispelallspells" command. I'm at a complete loss when it comes to figuring out what's causing this. I've been making sure to keep this mod at the bottom of my load order and even unequipped my weapons and spells before even starting the brawls. I'm also not using any items during the brawls.
Assuming you are no longer using any of the custom races, are you perhaps using any mods that modify the vanilla races, Disparity, for example? Most of those mods use spells to create some their race effects.
Don't have any mods editing vanilla races in that way and the mods I do use like for example, Ordinator and Andromeda shouldn't be the source of the problem. The only other mod I can think of that could be a problem is "Athletics Training", though from what I can remember it isn't using any spells for it's scripts.
Some mod is casting an enchantment on your character or you would not be accused of using magic. It's easy enough to find the culprit, albeit a bit tedious. Open your load order in TES5Edit. Starting with your first mod, click on the small box to the left of the mod name to expand the contents of that mod. If there is no Spell category move on the the next mod. If there is a Spell category, expand the Spell category and check for constant effect spells cast on the player or the player's race/sex. All constant effect spells have a Duration of 0 (yes, really). When you find a mod casting such a spell on the player, disable that mod and test in game. If you're still accused of using magic it means there is at least one more mod casting some sort of constant effect enchantment, so keep looking.
If I were you I'd start by checking the mods you listed (and any others you suspect) before trudging through the whole list; you could get lucky.
Thank you for the advice, slygeezer. Sounds like quite a bit of work but I am 100% going to see if I can get to the bottom of it. And for the thing about my load order, I am using NMM but I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the mod more than once to try making sure that its overwriting other mods. If that didn't work, I've also extracted the bug fix files from the .zip and manually installed them with it being the last mod I've installed.
Brawls start off normal, except when they're supposed to fall on their knees after defeat, they just die. I don't even get a bounty or anything. I did make sure to have this at the absolute bottom of my load order. Very strange.

Thanks for playing! <3
Luckily I found another mod Brawl Skip that resolves my progress in skyrim problem.

It creates a spell used to move past the brawl bug.
