It works ONLY for quest followers. i.e. Farkas will follow you for the quest \'Proving Honor\' but will swap out Lydia if she\'s following you. i.e. Farkas will follow you for the quest 'Proving Honor' but will swap out Lydia if she's following you. This trianer will let you KEEP Lydia or any current follower during the quest. If you don't finish the Farkas quest, he will follow you for good and you may be able to pick up MORE quest followers along with Farkas AND Lydia.
If you have already completed the Farkas quest, open up console and type "resetquest c01" and get him to follow you again.
