Thank you to everyone that's downloaded and endorsed!
I generally release mods because I'm just fixing things to the best of my ability and sharing them in the hopes that it's useful to others - I really didn't expect it to hit the hotfiles!
That's awesome guys - I'm glad you're finding it of use! Thanks again!
This is by far the best High Hrothgar texture mod of all time out there for me, it maintains the fidelity of vanilla while making it look amazing in HD. Thank you mister for your hard work.
I wasn't. It just doesn't matter how you justify your work if the result is the same, that's all. Perhaps try remaking the textures from scratch? One thing you could try is sampling parts from textures, so they remain at 1:1 ratio and don't have an up-scaled look.
johnskyrim making from scratch is a lot of work, but you're right, the effect will be the best, you remember SRO? There were magnified textures, from 512 to 2k, haha tragedy, but surely a few years ago it was the most popular mod for Nexus
"If it doesn't meet my concept of an ideal, then modders shouldn't bother" is a terrible attitude to have John. Although this time you did actually provide some of the suggestions you should have provided the first time.
I know how to rebuild a texture, I just don't have that kind of time available. This is not a perfect solution (nor was it presented as one) but it's still better than any of the alternatives, including what Bethesda left you with, and what you must still be playing with right now.
I don't think his comment was meant to offend. While I do think the textures look better, the mod is not a huge improvement over vanilla. But I'll take it, since it is the only one at least trying to ameliorate graphics while remaining vanilla friendly. So, thank you !
If modders (everyone, really) took what they needed from these comments, and ignored the rest (snobbery or whatnot), surely they'd have more time to work on things they enjoy instead of telling people not to be this or that. Just saying.
I'm sorry, but johnskyrim is in the right, here. You tote your mod as if the textures are actually HD. And on paper, they are. But in practice, the improvement is extremely minimal, only noticeable if you stand with your face in the wall or floor lol. Criticism is criticism, and if you plan on continuing your modding career, you're going to have to learn to accept it. Use johnskyrim's criticism to better your efforts. Or instead, at least include in the description that this mod is designed for lower end PCs.
Look at all these people complaining about someones work that decided to do it entirely for nothing and then getting s#*! on. If you dont like them, don't tell a modder, that offers a mod for nothing AND spends his free time doing something and sharing it with others, that "if you want to continue your modding career" you have to take criticism. Yall can go suck a dick deadass. Thats like telling a friend that is helping you out with something because they are nice that they have to work much much harder or they will be fired(-->?????<--,right?). Also f*#@ you john. Also i know -5 years ago but still- no one said it so i said it now.
Weird thing: The image titled "Comparison 5" makes me desperately want to play Minecraft now. Aargh! *shakes fist*
Love the mod's title, by the way. :D
-------------------------- Edit:
Alas, the door texture STILL personally offends me. I haven't really found a good one in any other texture mod I have seen, either. Maybe some "complete" texture overhauls for the entirety of Skyrim have something nifty hidden away in their multitude of files, but it'd be sheer luck to actually come across it.
This situation amazes me because doors were among the first things I needed better textures for when I first started playing - since they tend to be right in your face each time you enter or exit a building. You'd think more people would have been interested in fixing this very thing in the almost seven years since Skyrim came out. Huh.

A lot of them still have resulted in this look, sadly
It's an improvement over what was previously available, and we all do what we can in the time we have available. Don't be an ass.

A bit more gratitude, a little less snobbery.
