If you are having issues, please try on a vanilla profile with no mods and reread the installation instructions. If you still have issues, ensure that you've properly installed SKSE. SKSE is basically as much of a requirement as Skyrim itself. You should always double check that the memory patch is working. Follow this guide to ensure that it is.

If you still have trouble, then read these guides in order.

Terrerorfox Guide - covers the fundamentals, Thallassa Guide - troubleshooting, Memnochs guide - advanced

If after reading the guides and having followed our instructions your problems persist, you likely know as much as we do and you should post at reddit.com/r/skyrimmods, as they are an incredibly knowledgeable community.

If you have a general question, please reread the main description page before posting.

    Thanks

I have been using this mod for several years.
This mod was a good alternative because the heavy rain on COT was like a tropical squall.
However, this mod is also overkill.
Winterhold gets a snow storm every day, and Riften is full of fog every day. no exaggeration really.
There seems to be no concept of probability in this mod.
Even if the weather is clear with shouts, if you move a little, a snowstorm will come again. f***!!
ENB and weather mode are not easy to change, so I just use them.

How do you get this working with Rudy ? Do I just install " Natural Lighting Vivid Atmospherics 2.0 " then Rudy on top ?
    Thank you.

Does anyone else have issues with eye adaption becoming so dark, you're practically blind (especially when using bound bow? Or looking at a fire?) I feel like it's fine during the day and night, but if it's dusk or raining it darkens the screen so much so that it's hard to see anything.

This is probably my favorite ENB, haven't found anything that even comes close to the look of the skies during a bright sunny day, but it is definitely cramping gameplay (not to mention how hungry it is for FPS.)

Any way to make the nights darker? I'm only using the weathers, not the ENB. Thanks so much!

I really wanted to try this one out, but I ran into a strange issue I just could not fix.
Just thought I would drop this into the comments for anyone else experiencing the same thing.

I can run other ENB mods just fine, but this one gives me a problem. Indoors I'm fine, but outside I can't see anything. I can see my HUD & UI, I can hear audio, I can hear myself walking around and other characters talking to me; but my entire screen is black (except the hud), unless I look up or down then it shifts from black to gray to white and back. Only happens outdoors. I've even uninstalled this mod and went back to Tetrachromatic ENB with no problems.

To give a quick rundown on what I've done:
    - Deleted all ENB files from my Skyrim directory.
    - Copied enbhost.exe and d3d9.dll from the Wrapper version of ENB v0.449 to my Skyrim directory.
    - Copied all the NLVA ENB Files to my Skyrim Directory.
    - Installed Vivid Weathers via Vortex, made sure NOT to select any patches or any of the extras or addons.
    - Disabled Vivid Weathers ESP via Vortex.
    - Installed Natural Lighting Vivid Atmospherics via Vortex, setting the load order for AFTER Vivid Weathers.
    - I Did not install any of the optional components, like increased weather variety or anything like that.
    - Installed the Mindflux Particle Patch and Subsurface Scattering Patch for Oldrim via "Install from File" in Vortex.

Booted up the game, indoors is fine, outdoors game runs but I cant see a darn thing.

Here's some of the troubleshooting I've tried:
    - Disabled every single Mod I have except SKSE, SkyUI, Vivid Weathers, NLVA, and the Mindflux Particle Patch.
    - Turned off anything and everything related to Anistropy or Anti-Aliasing in my NVIDIA Control Panel.
    - Disabled Steam overlay.
    - Disabled and Re-enabled the Mindflux particle patch.
    - Reinstalled Vivid Weathers, and NLVA.
    - I tried using the same enblocal.ini I used for Tetrachromatic (that I know works)
    - Triple checked my Skyrimprefs.ini for bFloatPointRenderTarget=1, bDoDepthOfField=1, fGamma=1.0000, bTransparencyMultisampling=0, iMultiSample=0, bTreesReceiveShadows=1, bDrawLandShadows=1, bShadowsOnGrass=1, bDeferredShadows=1, iMaxAnisotropy=0

A thorough search of google and I can find a few other people having the same issue with other ENB mods, but no solutions. I'm out of Ideas, if any of the ENB gods out there see my post and know what I missed. LMK

First things first- This looks like it will be my favorite ENB... (I prefer realistic bright images that are detailed focused and easy to appreciate... over fantasy images or blurry / fantasy color effects) - Pity that the developer closed his account and I can't expect a reply...

Your instructions are detailed - including most of what a seasons modder would require.. but noobs will be lost. I suggest edits to your description (see below)

The installation process could have been made easier. I've spent longer than feasable reading and re-reading the instructions; re typing them and analyzing how this is supposed to work... (First attempt to mess with an ENB)

This is NOT for the feint of heart or the new modder to install. The directions are long and detailed - yet vague on and missing some requirements, the terminology is a bit confusing for new people and its a fun hunt tracking down required pieces to the multiple file puzzle that is offered here.

Here is a video that is helpful - its not for the VIVID version - but if a better video exists one should be put on the description page:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTef79rH1fM

    This basically requires
-9 different file installs from multiple addons, and EXTERNALLY HOSTED sources
-manual file edits (Where you are vague about which exact ENB files need moved or edited - too vague and its impossible to follow your directions; a full complete list of every file and folder needing moved is required - or you should have simply set your addon up to place these files where needed automatically)
-manual moving of files to locations without Vortex/MO support
-Manual selection (or deletion) of plugins without Vortex/MO support

-? Why do we NEED sounds to go along with these lighting effects? I have no clue.. Have no desire to mess with sound.. but ok.. lets get the sound files we 'need' (that arent listed as requirements)

Ok so here are my suggested edits to the detailed tutorial: PLEASE CONSIDER RE WRITING YOUR TUTORIAL TO ADD DETAILS.

    1. Remove any traces of ENB from your game folder EXCEPT your enblocal.ini file.³

*Ignore this if you have never done anything custom with ESB's before. The only file you will have from stock is ENBlocal.ini ENBLocal.ini. is something most people have never seen, heard of, opened or touched. That enb manager suggestion ... is too complicated for people who just want their game to 'look better' without too much effort...**Thanks for adding the link to the Wiki to explain things.. but still; too complicated for those who just want a plug and play' It Works' solution

    2. should be broken into multiple parts and re numbered.

2a Mindflux Patch from Nexus(not explained what exactly this does - guessing its NOT for the sound)

2b (should be 3) *External executable software program that adds new functionality to the game (Not easy to find on his website - as there are multiple versions in different places and the 'download' link has been moved from its previous location.
    http://enbdev.com/mod_tesskyrim_v0404.htm
*Worth noting that the 'enb presetup' program does not support custom file locations - it only works out of C:\Users\...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim
so if your skyrimprefs.ini is someplace else you may have a problem to fix.

*Are we using the Injector or Wrapper version with this mod?-- I imagine its the Wrapper version since it has enbhost.exe and the injector is different.
*Some files in Skyrim\enbseries are redundant from the other included; I imagine we want to overwrite the ENB originals with the other versions.
*We really only need the binary enbhost.exe? - not any of the other files? how about the enbseries folder?

***This is a whole world of unexplained stuff

2c (should be step 4) download NLVA ENB files:
*Do not install this file with Mod manager or Vortex; you have to manually do this! - Download 'ENB Files' unzip - and place where directed

    3. You aren't actually using Vivid Weathers for anything other than a handful of files that it provides. Install and disable pieces; or manually install the few pieces that are actually needed.

4 -self explanatory - extra manual step
*Except -- I have vivid Weathers - PLUS Extended Snow and Extended Rain -three ESP's... do I disable just the one? or all 3? *Guessing all 3

5 -self explanatory - simple MO2 or Vortex install

6 Increased Weather (and this is where things get MORE confusing) --This little gem for Heavenly weather incurs the wrath of more required addons
*I didnt bother to look at NLVA true storms or Vivid Weather MCM due to the complications and confusions documented... I'd need 2 more hours to figure them out.

Unexplained things that will require Trial and error to figure out:
Dark Fantasy weather Vs Heavenly weather -- How are we supposed to 'pick only one' when they are offered as a pack and both installed together? Are we to manually disable the plugin ? Should we physically delete the file? - Should we use the UI inside the game to select our preference? -- This should be detailed in the description installation section.
I'm guessing we are to disable/delete "___weather systems aos.esp" along with"sos.esp" and ".esp"

*Research trial and error required here:
    7 SOS Civilization
    8 SOS The wilds
9 SOS The dungeons (required for the AOS to work - which is next)
    10 AOS Audio Overhaul Skyrim
11 - Unknown patches may be required for AOS and SOS to avoid crashing (unsure)

    Research required:

Sounds of skyrim - 2 esb's required.. ok... - No links in this area.. so I'll google it - found and installed. Off to the other audio one; ERROR - it says I'm missing SOS Dungeons and can't install important patches.. says things will break... no thanks ; lets go find the SOS dungeon

-Wait theres an SOS all in one? Lets get that!
-Nope... the All in one changes some file names and your ENB can't use it... ok / delete that - lets install (three separate) SOS files -

NOW lets go back to the AOS and try that again.

*(No weather mod detected?) Wait a minute! I know I just installed a weather mod! Thats the whole point of me being here!!
:use tes5edit to try making your own patch for the weather mods you use" ... um... HECK NO... Not manually making my own patches; thats why I'm HERE trying to get things already set up and ready to go!!

    - I see..it doesnt have a preset patch for your VIVID version of Natural Lighting and Atmospherics ..... GREEEEEAAAT... It DOES have a patch for the NON vivid (original)... maybe I should try to force THAT patch to fix things with yours -- or maybe your vivid version has already been tweaked to work properly without a patch? (Would be nice if it was explained)

I think part of the issue is Nexus's system - 'required files' list is handy - but it should list 'Optional Required' as well...

--Now off I go to attempt to start my game and see if I installed it correctly... Fingers crossed:
    Edit 1
Nope.. crashing... cant even start a new game properly without a crash.. i'll have to troubleshoot and start removing pieces of this mod pack...

Perhaps the newest ENBhost.exe is too new?

Maybe I need enb helper? not listed as required - but located here - http://www.dev-c.com/skyrim/enbhelper/

    I'm not sure.. will figure it out and edit my post eventually;
My machine is about 5 generations out of date...
    12 core opteron
    32GB ram
    Nvidia GTX650 with 4gb ram
playing in 1080p window mode ultra settings on a 4k monitor (with a ton of other stuff running at the same time;lol)

Should be more than capable of this old game though... When I've activated this ENB my mouse is crawling across the screen in slow motion during character creation... not good.. upon making a new character the body mesh is loading horribly and pixelated something awful... my live another day mod cant seem to get me into a new game without it crashing now....

I can barely even look around the graphics are so choppy and bad...
-Edit 2.. I've disabled every new mod.. and game is still broken.. can't load any savegames or create a new game...

Must be a setting in the data folder - Enblocal.ini or the savegame folder skyrim.ini

Maybe I should remove the ENB binary files and the other info from the enbseries folder.. I think I'm about to give up and restore my last 40gb backup I made a week ago when things worked fine...

I wonder how I'm gonna fix this

so; 5 hours into this I'm giving up. It will be faster for me to restore my backup and reinstall the last 10 mods since I backed it up than it will be for me to attempt to figure out why this keeps crashing... .. 160 addons to slowly remove and replace to figure out what happened... ugh. I've heard of this happening to people who use NMM... guess it happens on vortex too...

I'll try installing this again on a vanilla profile to see how it goes... I keep a 12gb backup handy

@blombardo, thank you for addressing the instructions. This is the first mod that has completely kicked my a$$. I am fairly proficient at modding in Skyrim and I am very thorough when it comes to following a mod authors installation instructions. I usually do a lot of research including reading the posts, forums, etc and from there I make my decision about whether or not to install a mod. My approach is very effective and I rarely have serious problems with mods but I am absolutely unable get this one to work. I agree that this mod is definitely not for newbies or the faint of heart and the instructions need to be fleshed out better.

I agree with all your comments.  I have decided to drop Increased Weather Variety from my load order, since it requires so many esp's from other programs.  Audio Overhaul was going to install 8, and I am afraid of what SOS would require.

question - seems like my skyrim is located in seattle weather system.  its very frequently raining, how do i reduce the chance of raining/snowy weather?  thank you for your mod, its awesome!!
