ESSENTIAL NPCS - PUPPERS
Are you tired of Meeko getting killed by stray arrows? Have you wanted a dog follower, but didn't want to risk it dying? Then this mod is for you!
This mod makes all of the named dogs in the game essential. Nothing more, and nothing less. Now with an optional addon that makes the two named death hounds in Castle Volkihar essential! Are you tired of Meeko getting killed by stray arrows? Have you wanted a dog follower, but didn't want to risk it dying? Then this mod is for you!
This mod is the first of a series that I will be making. It will expand the number of NPCs that are considered essential.
As usual with my mods, you have two download options: an ESP file or a BAT file.
The ESP file requires the Dawnguard DLC, while the BAT version only requires the base game, as it makes no modifications to the dogs added by Dawnguard.
The "Essential Death Hounds" addon requires Dawnguard and the Unofficial Legendary Patch.
INSTALLATION AND UNINSTALLATION
ESP INSTALLATION: MANUAL
Step 1: Download the archive
Step 2: Open the archive with 7zip
Step 3: Drag and drop the esp file into your Skyrim data folder
Step 4: Activate the mod at the Skyrim splash screen
ESP INSTALLATION: NEXUS MOD MANAGER
Step 1: Use the "Download with Manager" button
Step 2: Install and activate
PLEASE NOTE THAT I DON'T PERSONALLY USE THE NEXUS MOD MANAGER, SO SUPPORT IS LIMITED
ESP INSTALLATION: MOD ORGANIZER (RECOMMENDED)
Step 1: Use the "Download with Manager" button
Step 2: Install and activate
OR
Step 1: Manually download the archive
Step 2: Place the archive in Mod Organizer's "Downloads" folder
Step 3: Install and activate
ESP INSTALLATION: WRYE BASH
Step 1: Download the archive
Step 2: Place the archive in your Bash Installers folder
Step 3: Install and activate
BAT INSTALLATION: MANUAL
Step 1: Download the archive
Step 2: Open the archive with 7zip
Step 3: Drag and drop the txt file into your Skyrim data folder
Step 4: Launch the game
Step 5: Once in game, press the "~" key to open the console
Step 6: Type "bat (filename)" and press enter
DO NOT USE A MOD MANAGER OF ANY KIND TO INSTALL THE BAT VERSION!
ESP UNINSTALLATION
Step 1: Save the game and quit
Step 2: Deactivate the esp
Step 3: Remove the esp from your data folder
Step 4: Relaunch the game
Step 5: Save and quit once more
Step 6: Run the Save Game Script Cleaner on the save you just made
COMPATIBILITY AND LOAD ORDER
Essential Puppers should be compatible with most popular follower mods (EFF, ATF, etc.)
Place the esp BEFORE any other mod that makes edits to the dogs of Skyrim.
