Does this affect vendor / merchant dialogues like how https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8046 affect vendors / merchants ? Follow up: question how does the reduced handle range vertically? I'm mainly looking for a solution to get vendors to stop saying stuff as if I am shopping when thwy shouldn't like when I am sneaking into their shop at night, but still do it during the day

Considering this was last updated in 2012, I'd be impressed if the author is even still around

You haven't the oh so annoying forced greeting same things over n over each time they get within an minute arms length, they just want to speak their same lines , have you ?  ( without mods)

Im using More To Say, which adds a lot of these NPC greetings to their dialogue instead

Actually, people are only strangers for the first time you see then. Since this is an RPG game, it's probable that you're gonna run into everyone for information, missions, whatever, making your face known by them.
Furthermore, cities in vanilla skyrim are relatively small and unpopulated (the populated cities goes so well with this mod btw), what makes even more sense to the countryside people of the towns to think of it as an uncommon and exciting event that the strange warrant warrior with 400 lbs of junk in his pocket is visiting their home again. I'd completly understand their point of wanting to talk to this hero (or thief) tho lol.

But yeah, that's annoying sometimes. I'll keep the mod, ty.

I've made a patch that combines "Realistic Conversations" with the "Slight Pause Between Lines" version of "FSS - No Pause Between Lines", and the "Reduced Distance NPC Greetings" version of "No NPC Greetings".  I used tweaked values, to avoid dialogue line overlap while getting rid of excessive pauses, and reducing NPC forcegreet behavior to 70 units (between the "Reduced" and "Slightly Reduced" versions).  I made this because having all three mods required manual patching anyway to get the desired behavior, RD's defaults were still annoyingly large or too close, and FSS was actually still too short at 0.1 sec (I changed it to 0.2, which also sounds more natural and not excessively rushed, while also not dawdling at all).

      https://mega.nz/file/0RIggRTb#kCLj4TX2Ss62iIQrMuHKMuwMdvid9vCfTNvwdZRckrk?

So, now you can just have one ESP instead of three.  PS: "Relationship Dialogue Overhaul" has a timing slider that can override this mod's default 0.2 sec. Be aware of that if you use RDO (recommended).

Imagine, walking in the city and then all of a sudden, strangers from nowhere started yapping about their life and stuff to you, a total stranger.

    This mod is NEAT

Had the developers made the greetings in Skyrim much more generic like they used to be in previous TES games - rather than being an NPC's whole life story or a moral agenda - a mod like this wouldn't have been made. I found this both funny and depressing.

Love it. finally I don't have to listen to Adrienne while using her smithy, or Nazeem when walking through Whiterun., of course when I play a stealth character I tend to fix Nazeem with a well placed backstab, and it feels soooo good.

Weeell, I always walk through the streets telling random strangers: "I recently started playing Skyrim again. It's hard modding, but it's worth it." Especially when they are talking to each other. I also sometimes run into random buildings and yell: "Excuse me! I have nothing to say to you!!" ;)

Thank you! I always choose the complete silence version. This mod is essential!
