Attention: This mod is no longer being supported or updated.

This mod has been uploaded by "The Care Taker". This account is run by Nexus Mods’ Community Development Lead, TerrorFox1234, for the purpose of hosting mods created by authors who are no longer active within the community. I have kept the mod description as it was in its last state, except for the removal of dead links and some minor spelling fixes when needed.

If you are a mod author and would like to make use of this service, it is as simple as getting in touch with TerrorFox1234 and saying that you want your mod(s) to be taken care of when you leave the modding community. Nothing will change for as long as you remain active. If you have opted in and become inactive for more than a year, OR if you announce your departure (either in a direct message to me or as a public announcement), your mods will be transferred to this account. Any permissions you have specified will remain in effect.

If, later on, you decide to reactivate your account and wish to regain control of your mod, send a message to TerrorFox1234. Bear in mind that you must be able to prove you are the original author.
(The best way to do this is by sending a message from the original account that you used to upload the mod.)

Thank you for your consideration and happy modding!

I think it would actually be really cool if you could merge this with existing mods addressing lore continuity. There are so many mods that make small changes to the world of Skyrim to match the lore, but they're usually ignored because of the restrictions on the number of mods that Skyrim can run at a time. If all of these changes were merged into a single immersive lore mod, I would certainly download it, and I'm sure many others would as well.

The merged mod would need to be modular, of course, to maximize compatibility because it would affect many things that are all very different, and it would require cooperation with other modders, but it would be a great addition to the archive. Obviously this is just a suggestion. I don't know very much about modding so I have no idea how feasible it would be, but like I said, it would be really cool.

You don't need to merge like that. Simply merge normally with merge plugins. I have this merged with an audio file and a few others, everything works normally. Merging plugins needn't be so difficult or complicated.

might i suggest something that may not fall under lore, but certainly falls under realism...

the Sanguine party in A Night to Remember quest. there's a discussion here...
    http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3638030-better-night-to-remember-party/

basically it's supposed to be a party held by the Prince of Debauchery, yet it looks more like couple guys playing poker. it's an incredibly lame party by any standards and it completely breaks immersion when you find out who'd throwing the party, then look over at the "party". i specifically avoid that quest nowadays because of that part.
so if you could add anything to the party, it'd go over great i think. no need for any complicated adult type stuff. in fact, i was happy w/ what i added just using console, except it's a pain to use console that long. i added a goat on the table, lotsa booze bottles, serving ladies ect. just an idea

I think the same goes fot the Thalmor Embassy Party, which schould look a bit more pompous, when even Elisif is amazed. Especially irritating is the "entertaiment" in form of a single flute player.

I love the idea of this mod, am going to track it, and, as I am determined to find and read all of the books in Skyrim, will attempt to remember to let you know if I come across anything worth adding. It may take me a while as I'm still getting used to modding and seem to have to restart a playthrough every couple of weeks, but again I like this idea!

    Like the idea behind the mod, but got two pet peeves with it (so far - as the mod evolves, it'll be interesting to see what you come up with);
    1. The etching is far too large. In the book it says "one of the stone blocks," so it's supposed to be quite a bit smaller than the size of the current mesh.
    2. This may be redundant if you shrink the mesh and the textures... the writing looks too pristine, while we don't know when the book was written (rather I don't), I'm sure a few years at the minimum have passed by the time the player shows up in the jail.

If you need a resource, I'd check the TESLore subreddit and UESP for ideas and continuity. I'm not a TES lore nut, but I'll be tracking this file closely, I'm a stickler for little mods that add atmosphere and continuity to games. That and artifacts. Lots and lots of artifacts that are canon to the games lore.

      I appreciate the feedback,

      To reply to your comments:

I think the etching needs to be large, or else people won't see it or will miss it all together. I don't want it to be 'in your face' obvious, but rather a nice find for someone paying attention. The lore does say 'one of the stone blocks', but again it's too small for that to work, in my opinion.

The writing does pretty 'fresh', but I also think it's because of the background (stonewall) is so different, and it really stands out. In my next update, I plan to change the stonewalls and the texture a bit. Hopefully i'll be able to come up something more 'aged'.

Thanks for comments, I appreciate this type of constructive feedback.

I was already thinking of making a post in TESlore subreddit asking what people think are some big inconsistencies, so we'll see how that goes.

In my opinion, coming across little and subtle details when you didn't realize it was there would be more rewarding to the player. As-is, it's anything but subtle. Admittedly, I haven't taken a look at it in-game. I'm doing an overhaul for my own stuff at the moment and I've been at it for months.

      I imagine carvings like this would be something akin to the Thieves Guild Shadowmarks in vanilla. If you want people to be able to read it, you could pull a Chesko and add an activator for people who want to read it. You've got an ESP already, I'd imagine it'd bring up a text box with what it's supposed to read. Something along this line (as an example);
The stones here are etched, the carving reads: "Take my hand Lady Nocturnal, for it's my will to serve you. As a Nightingale, I'm born anew. Let my past echo our triumph." It adds great narrative, even if it pauses the game in the mean time.

If the problem is you want to catch the players attention. There's ways to do it, adding an item of some sort (coin purse, etc) will draw the player to the location. Whether they notice the subtle carving or not is up to the player.

Though, as always, it's your mod, your choice. I'll keep an eye on the mod regardless. Good luck with your endeavors.

That aside, anyone downloading the mod will know it's there and thus will be able to find it, even if subtly hidden.

That might change once your mod gets bigger and people pay less attention to the various details you've added. But the same time, once it's bigger having it more subtle and harder to detect isn't an issue as people will still find some of the things you added and appreciate that it being subtle.

The biggest issue that I can see with making it smaller is that people that have other textures might have it stretch out on two blocks or something weird. That said, how it currently is, it kinda does look a bit to big, and I do like the idea of an activator like how Chesko did.

Thanks for the input, I think i'll be making an activator that will display the full text, but perhaps a small 'visual cue' on the wall to show that there's a carving there and will hopefully draw people in. I'm thinking of putting something on the table to make people wander over there, and whatever is placed on the table, will be in line sight of whatever 'cue' I figure out.

Outside some dungeon I believe there is a journal of a dead man without the body. Someone could probably help me out with this, as well as many others.I try to ignore such things as its beyond my capability to fix

Like the idea, but boy does that look wrong. Its clearly a flat plane of writing on a non-flat wall.

I think you'd either need to change to wall to something smoother, or space it out so that the words are on the individual blocks. Or both.

      Thanks for the observation,

I'm not going to change the walls, because then not everyone's texture pack will be compatible. If I space the words out, again, not everyone's texture pack will be compatible. This is as good as it's going to get, while maintaining compatibility, which was my main goal. The permissions are totally open, so if someone thinks they can do a better job, I encourage it.

Edit: Upon further thought, I could just find a flat stone wall texture, and replace all the cells with this. Might look better, be compatible, and give a bit of variety. Thanks again for the comment!
